Scott0 Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 FOund what could be a nice price on a guitar I want, I would feel more comfortable with natural or vintage sunburst, cherry seems, well, loud. Anybody here red averse?
milod Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I'm older than dirt; thought my wild guitar days were pretty much over, and cherry was far too wild, but... By golly, that cherry Dot that came in a year or so ago is kinda cute and takes priority over my sunburst Dot. That say anything? Imagine my avatar pix with it... No, it's not my primary "for me" guitar, but for calls to go gig with somebody in a saloon situation, old rock or country, it's a go-to guitar. m

Anybody here red averse? Just go for it!! I'm not a huge fan of cherry either but if it's a cool guitar at the right price...
burchster Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I love a good cherry finish...now if Epiphone would just make me a Sheraton 2 in cherry....

Dennis G Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Nothing wrong with cherry red guitars (Guild Starfire IV and Gibby 339):
Parabar Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Cherry red guitars? Maybe these guys can help nudge you: If they're good enough for Chuck, Alvin, Eric, Freddie, Muddy, Jerry, George, Carlos, John and Jorma ...
Parabar Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Jimmy, Derek, Duane, Otis, Hank, John, Mark, David and Bo like 'em too ...

Anybody here red averse? I think cherry red is much more attractive than sunburst or natural. I have a ES-335 PRO in cherry and an SG PRO in cherry. Love them. If cherry red was good enough for Chuck Berry, it is certainly good enough for me! Go for the cheery cherry! Play well Pete
Jeffery Smith Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 If it's an SG, that's the only way to go. Nice color for a Dot too.
crust Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 How about a real good "push" instead of a "nudge" ? lol

Scott0 Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 I'm veering towards it! I never even owned a red tie back when I wore ties! hah. thanks for the feedback folks, auction ends monday, I'm thinking I'll give it a good bid.
Cougar Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 thanks for the feedback folks, auction ends monday, I'm thinking I'll give it a good bid. That's what we want to hear. On my Dot, it's not just cherry. It's like, transluscent cherry. You see the grain under there...

Anybody here red averse? Well, I'm "Pelham blue" averse (and most colours to be really honest) so no logical reason why someone can't be "cherry red" averse! In terms of pure preference, I am a sunburst fanatic. I go for sunburst every time when I have a choice.

capmaster Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 In my opinion, as long as it's a fine guitar, there are colours more or less decent but no right or wrong ones. By the way, there are two solid red and three translucent red ones in my stable. Guess what ones the latter are - two SG guitars and one SG bass. :)
Scott0 Posted November 2, 2014 Author Posted November 2, 2014 I haven't yet had the opportunity to play an SG but I can see a Epi cherry Sg being pretty sweet! maybe someday I'll get to play one, nothing but rave reviews.
milod Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 As for the SG... IMHO it's the best solidbody design ever. period. m
Pin Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 As for the SG... IMHO it's the best solidbody design ever. period. m Yep, just a pure fact milod.
Scott0 Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 As for the SG... IMHO it's the best solidbody design ever. period. m I'll keep an eye out for one, since I was outbid for the cherry red casino coupe I was eyeballin.
