Any current or former luthiers here?

If is were 'fishyn' for something - like a  luthier,  I'd include the reason, or some context.   Otherwise,  you have no idea what would come next....   "How often should I change the strings on my First Act?"    or    "What is the optimum weight ratio formula for tuners on a 12 string?"      Like the OP's  'location' though.

perhaps just a regular discussion but wait !  the "post police"  have arrived !

P O Police do not exist. Maybe in a W. S. Burroughs novel they do. Not on the forum and not in 'Merica either.

Here is a  link to  a UK guitar maker/luthier forum -

https://guitarmaking.co.uk/community/

There is a USA one called luthier talk but I cannot paste the link into this post as it gets X'd out immediately (I've no idea why - malware? - never seen that before) - OP google it yourself please if interested .

Let's see if it lets me paste this one - yep

https://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/

The Gibson forum is not specifically a constructors forum and you do not need any specific guitar or musical knowledge to view or contribute to it.  AFAIK.

We are allowed to discuss other makes of guitar and other instruments here too.   And (sometimes) how they are built.  Over the years there have been some (not many) forum contributors who make or made guitars and similar instruments .  Plus some fine pickup and pedal makers and amp experts. [cool]

Best wishes to all!

I think that thread met a similar fate, no answers but lots of mis-direction and sarcasm...

Thats not true.. Both myself and KSDaddy answered... At which point the OP asked for me to post my phone number which I declined and would not even give a hint as to what he wanted to ask.. Which is when it went all wonky.

So I guess the luthiers to non luthiers is swayed towards the non direction. Most are players here, I’m sure some tinker and build.

Well that is just the G Forum and how it is, and a guy like you knows it, he doesn't yet, and I think like I stated in his first post (which he removed) most of us are players here not builders or luthiers.

This thread has great promise...

Are squirrels 'luthiers' since they are proficient with nuts,  wood and are not crazy?

Is a 'Chief always a Chief'  in the Fire Dept?   In an Indian owned  casino ?

Yes, and an American Indian Chief is always an American Indian Chief, as long as he went through Chief's Initiation.
