larryp58
Ever been watching a video, whether it be on CMT, VH1 or MTV and spot your Gibson guitar being played by the artist? I know you see a lot of J-200's and J-45's, HummingBirds. But some of the others. I spotted my 2001 SongBird Deluxe (not mine, but one like it!!!) being played by Miranda Lambert on her recent video "The House That Built Me". Cool!!! pohatu771
It happens all the time with the J-45, and quite often with the Casino. I can say, though, no one will ever be seen playing my Spirit unless they stole it from me. The best part is seeing someone you're a fan of playing your guitar, especially when you weren't aware of it when you bought it.
Taylor Player
I love seeing an AJ being played on by a professional..... they tend to look cooler than me playing it! lol....... I also see Casino's and the occasional small body LG series being played but I doubt it is an LG1 like mine. Performors tend to prefer the X braced LG guitars. Of course I see Taylors a lot on all the video channels but don't often see an early 1990's Maple/Sitka 612C like mine except for when Larry the Cable Guy uses his in his act. onewilyfool
I must say, I have NEVER seen my J-30 Firebird on any TV show, on stage, on a wall, in a store.......only in my house....lol
BigKahune
Yep. I get a boost when I spot one. Funny thing is, my wife has gotten a pretty good eye over the years and sometimes calls them out to me.

ksdaddy
I've got a Hopf Saturn 63 and I never thought I'd EVER see one on screen. Then one day I was watching Robert Blake in "In Cold Blood" and there is a dream or fantasy sequence where he envisions himself as a performer... and he's playing one. Gilliangirl
I do get excited when I see someone playing my guitar on TV. I feel proud Willie Nelson's on Soundstage tonight so I'll be scanning the backup band for guitars, as usual. Larry, isn't that Miranda Lambert song pretty? Pretty great song, pretty great guitar. MissouriPicker
Yeah, and Miranda ain't too bad either...........I remember on that Nashville talent show where Jewel was a judge, they played a lot of Gibbys. Like watching Keith Richards too when he's playing an acoustic. It's usually his Hummingbird.
albertjohn
I've seen on TV, Dave Grohl play "my" SWD a few times. He must owe me some money by now? I was also very surprised to see the guitarist with Jay Zee's band play my amber finished Strat Highway 1 HSS on Jools Holland last year. Surprised as our musical tastes are clearly poles apart. My kids think my strat is now cool! I was also surprised how good he and his band were live, too. I know what you mean about seeing Keef with a Hummingbird. Is there a better fit in rock and roll? StijnV
yes, the J-45 is a popular model, I always love to see "my guitar"; it feels like if you're on stage also !
fortyearspickn
George's attraction to the Dove dates back at least as far as his 20 year old movie - "Pure Country". He played a couple of songs on it, and credited it with being part of his roots. I'm betting the folks at Gibson loved that movie as much as I did! MusicbyFirelight
Hey GG -- so I guess a cover of "The House that Built Me" on an AJ would work for you - I did just that a week ago for a crowd of a few hundred at a community event -- cool setup - the "stage" is actually an island in the middle of a large pond/small lake with seating raked on a grassy slope at water's edge... Playing most weekends now until Labour Day.. feels good to share.
Dove Histronic
Y'all covered George Strait and the Dove in Pure Country... Most recently found a youtube of JIM CROCE with a Dove live on TV doing "One Less Set Of Footsteps"

Jinder
My Blues King often pops up on TV, usually in the hands of the frontman of little-known UK underground pub-circuit open mic artists Coldplay. Of course when I see my SJ200 being slung by Mr. Townes Van Zandt and Miss Emmylou I feel my heart swell with pride :-)
MusicbyFirelight
Hi GG -- Nope, no drop D, and I gentled the rhythm to a quasi-Travis pattern. Had DH there with a video camera but he set it up shooting directly into the glare of late day sun, through a fountain so the sound is splashy **grin** , and zoomed out so far I'm a pindot. A friend who was there took some pix though, and just sent me high-res copies, so if anyone's interested I'll try to figure out how to post pix.
