Congrats!!!! Beautiful Epis Charlie! I've been looking for that exact Riviera....its just georgeus!

Is that a '66 Limited Edition SG?

Thanks, cymbaline87....I appreciate that. I love 'em All!

The "SG" is a '61 Reissue (Made In Japan), I acquired recently via E-bay...thanks to a tip

from Jeffery Smith, here on the forum. A fellow was selling them, from Japan...with free

shipping. Normally, I wouldn't chance things like that, but his feedback was excellent,

and Jeff's guitar was beautiful as well. So...I took the chance! Hardly put it down, since.

LOL! Ant7629 got one, from the same guy, too.

I might leave the sg, I'm not heartless.

Depends on if the cookies are homemade!

Isn't that the chair from Frasier:-

I really like the color of the Casino!!!

LOL! Might be...

The Casino isn't in "original" condition, or color...it was

restored/refinished, years before the "Vintage" craze took hold.

When I acquired it, it was structurally sound, but was "spray

painted," a variety of the ugliest colors, you have ever seen...

What came over the original owner, God only knows?! LOL!

We thought, by how deeply the original finish had embedded itself

into the top laminate, that it was probably "black" to begin with?

But, I don't think Casinos came in "black" back then? So...??? May

have been painted black, prior to being "Grunged?!" (Came from Seattle

in the late 70's.) Anyway, I didn't want black, as I had enough guitars

that were dark. Originally, I had envisioned it being done "natural" like Lennon's...

but, the paint was too far down into the wood, to do that well...so I settled on the

warm "burst" it is now. I like it, and it makes it a bit unique, too. Won't have much,

if any, "collectability"....but, that's not why I bought it! It plays SO well...

very low action, no buzzes at all, and the tone from the original P-90's,

is incredible! Who knows, maybe someday I'll get an "Elitist" in Natural? ;>)

But, this one is a favorite, for sure!

Thanks, everyone...much appreciate your kind comments.

Laboomo, the Sheri and Riviera are quite similar in tone. The Sheri has a bit of an edge, that way, though.

Probably the USA pickups. But, they're close...the Korean pickups seem a bit more "metallic" in the top end.

Maybe someday, I'll put Gibson mini's in it? No hurry, though...as the tone is not bad, at all. Just a bit different

than the Sheri.

Man; I love that '61 SG. If I didn't have my Elitist SG I would pick up one of those in a second.

Hey..."Elitist" SG's are great! I'd be surprised if you weren't quite happy with it.

The guy that Ant, Jeff, and I bought our SG's from, is no longer selling them, apparently.

There is another fellow, from Japan, that does...so, if you go to E-bay and type in

Epiphone Japan, whatever he's selling at the time will pop up.

Thanks' date=' Ant...Yeah, the other's must feel "neglected" a bit, since the SG's arrival. I

seem to be having trouble putting it down. Awesome guitar!

Send the others to me until the fascination with the SG subsides. Just another carrying service I provide to a fellow Epi lover.
