So there's only 3.

And it's been factory clearcoated.

But $225,000?

Come on!

"What makes this guitar special is it was signed by EVH and the company Ernieball / Musicman clear coated on top of the signature.. There are a total of 3 Guitars.. Eddie has one and his producer /Engineer has the second.. This is the 3rd.. It has been played twice. Comes with a hardshell case.. actually the case still has plastic on it.."

It's worth whatever somebody will pay for it.

There are well-heeled EVH fans out there, and there's some rarity involved, but who knows?

Fickle market indeed.

I have two signed Les Pauls, Joe Perry on one and Ted Nugent on the other.

I have no expectation that either will drive up the values significantly.

They were my guitars long before, and were never going to be worth a lot of money anyway.

I see them as cool momentos of the opportunity I had to speak with both players - that's all.

Yeah.

That's the rule I guess.

It's worth what you can get for it

If someone gives up that kinda cash right off the bat, then good for him.

But with all due respect to Mr. VH, his autograph on a piece of paper goes for about $100.

In this case, it just seems like you're paying $224,900 for a guitar to put it on.

I was cautioned against clear-coating my Gibsons.

Spoke to a couple local luthiers and a guy at Gibson first, so I didn't do it.

Fear is that the fresh thinner will soften and blur the signatures, causing them to run before the finish hardens.

Whatever.

"EVH" means Eddie van Halen, right?

If so, the asking price is pretty far-fetched IMO.

Eddie is still alive, which means his signature isn't exactly hard to come by. And even if it were impossible to get his autograph, that's still way too much for some guitar, which has merely been signed by a famous whatever.

When I see stuff like this, I'm always happy I'm not a fanboy. Being stupid is expensive!

An autograph on a guitar is worth nothing to me. It wasn't signed for me or in front of me, so it means nothing. It could have been signed by anyone. Even if it was an authentic autograph it seems completely pointless to me. It's just someone's signature. Who cares?

Yeah .... but the $224,900 buys a guitar that **><-_HE_-><** has touched.

This is a very significant [expensive] touch. Do realize that **><-_HE_-><**

does not touch paper the same way that **><-_HE_-><** touches a geetar!

Thus the value of the autograph itself may be equal in both instances, but

the value of the substrate is enhanced $290,000, worth when it's a geetar.

If it were Bill Shakespeare's autograph, maybe then the PAPER would be

subject to such enhancement, and nobody would care if he had signed a

lute or a fiddle ! IOW, if it's the artiste's 'tools of the trade', it's worth more.
