Silenced Fred
I like my Les Paul. But, I'm looking for something different. So the choice comes down to either a MIM Tele (I really dig em, and would take a MIM over the MIA just because of a feel preference) or save up extra long for an SG Standard in White with coil-taps. I'm leaning towards the tele because I can get that in a month, and it has single coils, offering a different sound, but the SG is really nice. Opinions? ZenKen
I'd go with the Tele. IMO you need a Gibby and a Fender in your arsenal. B)
MrNylon
I do like both, but that white SG is tops. The SG has a raw sound to it. A good example, the opening riff to Tales Of Brave Ulysses, off the Live Cream Vol. 2 album.
feldkeen4
I'd go Fender, Strat or Tele. I've really bonded with my Strat. But, still love the SG. It feels like you have more of your bases covered with a Gibson and a Fender to reach for. The SG still rules the roost.
Silenced Fred
I'd go with the Tele. IMO you need a Gibby and a Fender in your arsenal. B) That's what I'm thinking, but I mean... The SG...
cookieman15061
Do both. Around my neck of the woods Craigs list has at least 3 mim teles and strats everyday. All reasonably priced between $250-$300. throw on some new strings and maybe a set-up if needed and ya gots a great playing guitar and an early start on your savings for the SG. Jantha
Go for the Tele. I agree with you on the MIM's. I try one out every time I'm at GC and I'm always amazed at how they feel and play.

I never see telecasters on Craigslist... and if they are, its usually a homebrew relic thing.
craigh
I see MIM Teles on CL in my area all the time. But I would hold off & get a vintage reissue Tele. Craig
swleary
I'd follow my heart on this one, MIM tele are nice but I think you are already swaying towards the sg. Let the guitar find you is what I always say.
Laaz
SG no question.
Andre S
Get the tele. I'm not really a fan of SG's save a few models (the ones with great bevels and maestros)

Californiaman
Fender Telecaster all the way. Tonality will certainly change and open up new musical landscapes to explore and conquer.
Silenced Fred
Fender Telecaster all the way. Tonality will certainly change and open up new musical landscapes to explore and conquer. That's what I'm thinking. I mean, I already have a Gibson with humbuckers... I can probably find a Tele for about 300-400 used with case so I will probably do that, then wait for the SG... but not sure yet
sparky scott 29
I'm surprised there aren't more people saying SG. I mean, this IS a Gibson site. I personally don't like the Tele's. I own a Strat though. Trying not to be prejudice, I'd say Tele. cuz of the humbuckers issue like others said... You already have hummers...
