This is not about who I admire most, find

most musical or talented, or is simply a

favorite. It's to answer the question in the

OP. So, there's basically two 'themes' in

the female list, and only one in the male

list. Female swings between powerful or

sexy [you figger out which ones is which]

and the men are "unique" ... in the usual

oxymoronic way we now commonly use

that word. IOW, they all "share a unique

characteristic" ... Kinda like sandpaper,

they're not in themselves smooth, but

they can make other things smoother.

Who's voices have made an impression on you over the years?...Accents and speech impediments aside, what remarkable or unique voices have stayed with you?

Probably the one that has stuck most, because of the amazing bell-like quality of her voice, is Yungchen Lhamo.

She lived in Australia for a while after escaping from Tibet where she was regarded as a Buddhist diva. I had the great fortune to hear her live.

Om Kalthoum the Egyptian diva

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the great Qawwali singer

Ray Charles - C'mon

David Gilmour - Love how smooth and airy his voice is

Warren Haynes - love the grit and Power ( and damn what a player and tone!)

Ann Wilson (repeat I know) - Mistral Wind says it all

Johnny Lang - lotta soul for a young kid

Geoff Tate - Take hold of the flame, Walk in the Shadows, all of operation mindcrime

Bruce Dickenson - Power and nails it live

Billie Joe Armstrong - Green Day always sounds tight

Favorite of all time but already mentioned - Chris Cornell hands down - Listen to "Reach Down" on the Temple of The Dog CD [thumbup]
