BillyGibson
Maybe I'm too fussy. All the guitars have binding on the neck that matches the binding on the body and white nuts. (That sounds kind a wierd saying that ) Execpt the Dot. It has no neck binding and the nut is black. That's the only thing that holds me back from getting a Dot, regardless of color. You're not alone. I have a complex about the neck binding and white nuts too. The black nuts just don't look right on any guitars to me. Maybe it's just because almost all Gibson's have white ones and I'm used to seeing those. Such a minor detail, I know, but I'm picky!!

Depends on the fretboard to me, black nuts on maple boards and white on rosewood/ebony boards, I think it should contrast the fretboard not blend in. midiman56
Dear, dear Epiphone ... These are lovely guitars ... really! I want one of each please ... BUT ... You missed a golden opportunity for what would have been perhaps the BEST "guitar-pun" of all time! I mean, seriously ... where the HELL is my ... Imagine ... a guitar with TWO Theme Songs!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5s4e7TaLhY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1A6ZGy2kC0&feature=related What happened here??? charlie brown
Wouldn't that be a Riviera? Could make one of those, too. But, the original Sheraton (USA Kalamazoo) I and II, both had mini-humbuckers. The I had a frequensator tailpiece (or sometimes a Vibrato), and the II had the stop bar. Those were the only differences, at the time. When they went "overseas," they got full sized humbuckers. Some still had frequensator tail- pieces (rare, now), but most got Stop bars...which is why they still call those Sheraton II's. There were, a few, very early on, that had single coil pickups, that looked like mini-humbuckers. They were commonly called "New York" pickups. The very early headstocks, were more like Paul McCartney's Casino's headstock, in shape, as well. But, the most common USA Sheraton's, feature wise, looked like the one below. Here's a photo, of my AIUSA Sheraton II (Sunburst) with correct headstock, mini-humbuckers, and Nitro finish. The "Imperial" tuner buttons, are not "stock" on this one. I added them. They did come "stock" in the Elitist version, but the headstock on it, is more the standard Epi hour-glass, as opposed to the AIUSA...which is wider at the top, like the originals were. Supersonic
Man, that is one beautiful Sheraton. I think if I could have any Epi that I've seen on this forum, it would be that one. That includes all Elitist models and 65 Lennon's, whatever. Just absolutely beautiful. The only thing that I would want to change is adding a Frequensator. sliding_billy
So I registered simply to add a reply to this thread. I just got the Riviera yesterday. I'm not sure how many MF got, but it went to coming 7/1/11 right after I ordered mine last Wed. I love the guitar but have two minor complaints. They put white neck side fret markers on top of the gold leaf binding, and they are almost unable to be seen even in light. Black would have been better. If you are used to using the neck dots as a guide, you will find them problematic. Also, I am not a big fan of the extended headstock. because the headstock graphic is fairly small and the headstock has no binding the amount of black abover the tuners looks a little odd. Needsless to say, those are REALLY small things. Everything else is great. Been playing for about 29 years, BTW. Owned lots of Gibson's, Epiphones, Fenders and everything in between. This one was special enough to post on a board about it. Chris P.S. The Elvis thing is dead on. The Royale is a lot more Vegas flash than the pictures make it look. Between the metalic white and the metal flake gold binding, it is VERY flashy. My wife and a guy I was jamming with yesterday BOTH said (exclusive of each other hearing) that it looked like something Liberace would have played if he had played a guitar. Coincidence? I think not.

charlie brown
Well, one could argue the same, for the Gretsch White Falcon. Yet, they are quite common, among "Rock & Roll" players. So...??? "White" and "Bling" may not be for everyone, but I think it's great, that Epi made these, for those who DO like that sort of thing. I (personally) lean toward "less is more," bling wise...BUT, the Wildkat, and P-93 are especially interesting, to me. I like the "Gold Top" P-93, as well. Must have a little "Flash," in me, from somewhere?! (Smile) CB

Markus Femling
Curious...that they used black knobs, on the Swingster, and Wildkat, and gold on all the others. ??? CB It might have something to do with the Swingster and Wildkat not having pickguards. My Swingster Sunset Orange was delivered with a clear plexiglass pickguard (which i havent fitted, i dont want the guitar to look "Gretschy"). Still, the whole Royale line looks very stunning to me. I seriously consider ordering a Swingster Royale, as it is a guitar that always gets compliments for the sweet tone and to have one in white and gold would be very nice. Edit: I just came to think about it. Putting a Bigsby and a middle pickup on the Les Paul and featuring a white Lucille with Vari-Tone and stereo jacks would have perfected the lineup.
