I was going to post this in the thread about figuring, the figuring on this guitar is almost holographic, photos don’t do it justice.

I have posted this guitar before, but it’s a Gibson so I’ve no problems posting it again.

It is hard to describe, but I know exactly what you are talking about.    I have a cherry Lucille and even though it is spec'd as having a plain top, it does have some more subtle figuring in it.  And it is almost 3-dimensional looking.  I describe it as looking jewel-like, or glowing embers.  So I understand your holographic description.  Almost impossible to get in a photo.  Here's a studio shot that does show the figuring, but not the "effect".

The ES line was my first Gibson, and will likely be my last. Over the years, I've had most of what Gibson made.

From left, ES-345, 335,335,347,Original Lucille,333,330, 330cs and 339.

Pretty sure it was a TN, obviously the Red is an older refin. I don’t mind it honestly, never thought I’d own a 50’s Gibson of any kind. It’s really nice otherwise, so easy for my hands to play. Bought it from original owners son. Here’s a couple pics.

You found this Craigs List?

Folks must be P.O.'d at Reverb for raising their rates.

Looks like you're getting a little low on Gibbies there, @gnappi.

Better hit the Interwebs and pick up a few more! 🤣

Yeah. I was shocked when I first saw it and somehow knew I would be the next guy to care for it. I talked to the guy over the course of 8-9 days I think. Was his dads guitar and wanted someone to take care of it, fix it and love it. He gave ma a really good deal on it. It’s a keeper.

gnappi    can indeed tell you quite a bit about it.    That's a great ES-330 '59 reissue you have there.  Not sure where you get the  "hand made at Memphis Custom Shop" from, as there was never any Custom Shop in Memphis.  Gibson did say some really misleading things, though.

Here is a nice review on it: https://www.sweetwater.com/insync/hands-on-review-gibson-memphis-1959-es-330-historic/

I've been a Gibson fan for 45 years, and I've owned most of the ES models (and although I too love a good 3X5 or 330, I dislike the trend toward people automatically equating the term "ES" with the double-cut thinlines exclusively.  In other words, I'm glad when someone includes a mention (or better yet, a photo) of one of the myriad of other ES models like the 150, 250, 300, 350, 175, etc etc etc!

Photobucket has messed up my online links from various forums, and this site won't allow me to post images hosted on certain other guitar forums, but I'll try to find some examples to post here.  These happen to be guitars that I owned years ago, but no longer own...
