I cleared all the private data to browse "fresh", but still getting this issue you illustrated on my phone's browser. Not sure if this is a Gibson thing, but nonetheless, this is irritating as I can now only interact here on my PC. Maybe I'll have less typos - silver lining possibly. But thanks for sharing this, I really hope this issue gets resolved. Same. Android.

Gibson doesn't produce enough volume to have a dozen acoustics and 2 dozen electrics in every music store in the US. They focus on higher volume dealers who commit to doing a good QC Check when they receive the guitar, keep it in good shape until sold, and provide good service after. Gibson doesn't force the stores to sell more than they can: Just stock more than the Mom & Pops can afford. If you spread yourself too thin - buyers who get a sketchy Gibson come here and blame the manufacturer without looking first to the retailer. I just looked online and of course it could be BS, but it says Gibson makes 530 guitars a day, Martin 200 a day, yet Martin are in Mom and Pop shops. And why is it Gibson has to really on the stores to do another QA for them. All a store should have to do is open the box and do a quick look over not a 75 point check. I know damn well they have a QA department and should be done before it departs the factory. I haven't bought many new Gibby but they come with those cards where all the QA stuff is checked off. Who cares if a Mom and Pop store can only move 3 Gibson's a month, that is 3 more they sold along with all the other stores adding up the total. Edited February 1, 2021 by Sgt. fortyearspickn
Your Gibson number probably includes electrics. If you look at the YouTubes of the Bozeman vs Nazareth plants you'll get a better picture. On top of which, Martin puts their name on Mexican products. Most manufacturers would rather have those 3 guitars a Mom& Pop might sell in the safe hands and stock at a bigger retailer - so you can decide which sunburst speaks to you when viewing them side by side by side. And they'll sell quicker there than at the Mom&Pop, with a price that can compete with on line sellers. You're right of course - a Five Star dealer doesn't have to perform a 75 point check. Most here would agree though that when they buy one - they look at a couple of dozen things and complain if one of those isn't in spec. "Glue Drop inside up next to the sound hole behind the bridge plate ! What should I do?" Even you have laughed at those posts.

I don't consider Martin's from Mexico, Martin's. They are cause the headstock says so, but mine are all 'Merican. The net says 100 people work in Montana and 500 in PA. fortyearspickn
I have no problem buying something Hecho en Mexico if the brand on it is Mexican. I have a pair of boots I bought in Nuevo Laredo that are the best I've ever owned. Python (Piton). The labels still say "Not For Export". Levis - not made here but most of these who buy them think they're still made in San Fransisco. I was thinking of buying a 14k Cross Pen (always wanted one, could never afford/justify it, plus the fear of it being 'lost' off my desk.) Now -they're all made in China and China owns the company. So, I'm sticking with the 30 year old PaperMate I inherited from my father. Refills probably made offshore. So - I guess what I would like to see from Gibson is not to follow the trend by putting their name on any instrument not made in the USA. So - "Stay The Course". SteveFord
It could very well be 500 people in Nazareth, that's a good sized operation and they're pretty busy. I tried to like the Mexican Martins but all the ones I tried sound pretty lifeless.
Larsongs
The Mexican made Martins are nowhere near as good as the old Sigmas.. But neither are as good as USA made Martins. Edited February 2, 2021 by Larsongs

fretplay
I would like to see a CJ165 maple back and sides. They are not made at all now don't know why as everyone who owns a CJ165 loves them.

SteveFord
How about a Gibson USA Flying V where the strings go through the body like they're supposed to?

They’re aren’t equivalent to my USA Martins though but they were pretty good... I can’t say I’ve ever played an MIM Martin I liked... LesB3
I'm surprised no one else has said this, but I'd like to see a few of the single cutaway (ES-135/137, ES-175, ES-225, ES-350, etc.) models re-released. Have fun with them. Bold colors, different pickup options (P-90's, mini-HB's?), more Bigsby's, and made for real RnR, not Jazz. If Epiphone can come up with bold and interesting models, Gibson can too. A good example would be the Thorogood Epi that came out last year. But those are made in China...

Retired
All of the above, Lol. Actually, I'd love to see the 6o's classic Gibsons back at the 60's prices. Maybe the Ebony fretboard also.

SteveFord
Something tells me that they would try and charge me List Price. Other than a cardinal red Firebird V w/ P90s I honestly can't think of anything that I would have to run out and buy (or sit on my butt and have it delivered). That Firebird Studio is close but no cigar just like I thought it would be. I do have my eye on one last guitar, though. We'll see.

SteveFord
Biker Scum 2021 is officially here (got out for a ride today) and I'm slated for the next wave of vaccinations so priorities will be changing shortly. Guitars are an indoor activity for me and soon it'll be time to emerge from the great indoors and see what's going on out there. Maybe this time next year a 3 pick up SG Custom will pop up on the used market at a reasonable price. I would say $2250, not $6500 or $7000 or whatever crazy price it is they're currently talking about. It's a slab of wood with a bunch of pick ups stuck in it, what are they thinking?
