Whoa' date=' that Epi looks just like a Gibson. How does it compare to the real thing?

[/quote']

Compares very favorably, with Gibson's version. Only real difference, is the "Epiphone" on the

headstock. I suppose some might like "real" Gibson pickups better(?), but these are quite nice, actually.

It's not an "Elitist" per se, as they were export versions, with a different headstock...although it Was

built in the same factory, by the same workers. These were meant for the Japanese Domestic Market,

only...and not to be exported...which is why they were allowed to have the Gibson openbook headstock.

Gibson's contract ran out in 2006, so that was the last year Epiphone Japan was allowed to make this

particular version. It's an awesome version, of the venerable '61 SG.

Thanks. The blue one came from the Gibson Customer Appreciation Sale in Nashville: Maple body' date=' flame maple neck, Burstbuckers, ebony board, Daytona Blue. Here are a few more of that one...

I was going to get one of those when I was up there, they were just too dang heavy.

She's an old timer who's been tinkered with.

I didn't do the tinkering, please don't hurt me!

Like I'd ever switch out P90s!! Sacrilige.

All the same, the neck on this 1971 is incredible.

I won't ever buy a NEW guitar again.
