charlie brown
Whoa' date=' that Epi looks just like a Gibson. How does it compare to the real thing?[/quote'] Compares very favorably, with Gibson's version. Only real difference, is the "Epiphone" on the headstock. I suppose some might like "real" Gibson pickups better(?), but these are quite nice, actually. It's not an "Elitist" per se, as they were export versions, with a different headstock...although it Was built in the same factory, by the same workers. These were meant for the Japanese Domestic Market, only...and not to be exported...which is why they were allowed to have the Gibson openbook headstock. Gibson's contract ran out in 2006, so that was the last year Epiphone Japan was allowed to make this particular version. It's an awesome version, of the venerable '61 SG. tbonesullivan
That customer appreciation metallic blue with the maple body and flame neck is AWESOME. 57 classics too? it's almost like an anticipation of the SG Raw power. However, I can't let this thread go on without posting a GOOD picture of my Ebony Standard and my newest toy.

All the same, the neck on this 1971 is incredible. I won't ever buy a NEW guitar again.
