Ceramic vs. Alnico

I've got a '79 "The SG" with ceremics to die for. Walnut body, it's just a killer rock guitar. All the pieces fall in line. "Velvet Brick"....

But the '57's in the 339 are sweet.

The old Melody Maker has single coils.

Saying this, the 498T is bad to the bone.

I think I like them all........

Yep.

I like the 498t a lot but I think another pickup may be better for me.

If I find that I want the 498t back, I can just throw it back in.

Isn't that a beautiful thing about electric guitars?

The 490r on the other hand... Wow. Sounds so amazing in my SG.

Different sounds for different uses. In my opinion:

Alnico II in Les Pauls for classic tock

Ceramics in a Flying V for metal tones

Every dilemma in this life' date=' is a pseudo-dilemma. The correct answer is, always: BOTH! [biggrin

Especially when it comes to kids, eh Hector? budhug_smilie.gif

I like KFC's original recipe... It's crispy enough, has great flavor but doesn't hurt the roof of your mouth. The crispy is just too rough on your mouth and the spicy is too spicy...

What I'm trying to say is it's a matter of taste, everyone will like one or the other for different reasons....

Just like Are Nine says - Alnico II. Lower output & sweeter sounding to my ears.

Ceramics are like an ice pick in the ear to me, while somebody's nails are on the chalk board.

I sold the ones I had for 50 bucks - I would have given them away for free.
