Try not to worry about it too much Stan, it's what you do with it that counts...

Wow, and twang swings with a driving punch. Will marx block or will it be a bow. This is turning out to be the match of the year. Hold on to your hats folks. This has been a dance of titans. It can only amount to the great "piss-off" of all times.

And, there goes the bell!!!!![-X

I'm imagining an argument between two guys where one (Gibby-guy) has a gorgeous wife;

the other (Epi-guy) has a plain-Jane wife. Goes something like this:

Gibby-guy: "My wife is red hot. Your wife ain't doodly-squat"

Epi-guy: "My wife swallows"

That was Link Wray playing with Robert Gordon during that time. He is often credited as being "the Father of the power chord". Legend has it that he poked a pencil through the cone of his amplifier speaker to get that fuzzy one.

Yep. On Red Hot..

One of my fave albums .. Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Die

And he used Danny Gatton and Chris Spedding as well.. man. hot stuff, there!

We used to do Red Hot and Fire and Someday Someway and BBBBBBB Black Slacks

and But But and A Picture of You

and those country boys would sit there and stare and then leave.

and so would the hippys.

We had no audience at all. *g*

Oh...I don't know...I have lots of Gibsons' date=' and I still like my Epiphones...I've never actually thought of them,

as a "poor man's Gibson," even IN the '60's. I just liked how they looked, and sounded....period! Still do...

Of course, all my Epi's are Thin line archtops, except the MIJ '61 SG. So, I'm not that familiar with the solid

body models...AKA "Gibson Clones." They've always looked nice, though...especially for the price!

CB - I agree 100%. I could care less about the name, unless I am looking for something specific and my 2 Epi's are specifically what I was looking for!

i have not read the whole forum but i would just like to say that while some epiphones are very nice instruments (like mine x] ) they are not as good as gibsons. i dont care what any one of you says, except for the old epis from before gibson bought the company all epiphones are made to be worse then gibsons on purpose, just like how the mexi made fenders are worse then the US made fenders. it is this way so that the US companys are better and make more profit. not to say epis are bad instruments because some of the nicer korean models and the japanese models are great for their price, but saying it is better for the price doesnt make any sense. if you took a really crappy guitar but put a 20 dollar price tag on it and people start calling it the poor man's epiphone doesnt mean its better it just means that it is cheaper. so when ever you guys say epis are better for the price you are basically say that they are cheaper.

Edward Van Halen changed the world with $150 in guitar parts that were considered "seconds".

his latest reissue (made by fender' date=' i think) only costs $25,000. =P~

and yeah, i do see a lot of the young hipsters on other boards who play music of an "indie" nature slinging sheratons, and to a lesser extent, dots and casinos. aside from being pretty damn good guitars (better than bad and ok, but not yet trancendent), i do think the asthetics help. and they just love effects. i know that's a strange thing to say about a guitar, though.

and some "real" bands are using them, too, in and out of the studio. not my taste, but panic at the disco, vampire weekend that stupid black parade band (my chemical romance-- i remember now) and such. and here's m. ward (she & him/solo artist) playing a elitist country gent on letterman:

About Frank Iero

Frank is currently the rhythm guitarist for My Chemical Romance, and is the youngest member of the band. He plays an Epiphone Les Paul Elite Series and uses Marshall JCM900 and Sun Cabinet Amps. He was recruited after the band decided they needed another guitarist to fill out the sound. He also dropped out of college to pursue the band full time.

and the notion that a guitar originating from somewhere other than america being unworthy is well thought out and completely valid, across all brands and price points. #-o

I like this arguing about epi's not being real epi's well guys Gibson isn't built by Orvil and they aren't built in kalamasoo Leo's dead. and the company's headquarter is in Airzona. quality is quality. The two elitist guitars I have just aquired are fine instruments. and i think i've own and do own some really fine instruments. ( 6 fender custom shop guitars a gibson 61 sg reissue. hey both my Epiphone elitist LP and 335 are better made and play and sound better the my sg
