MojoRedFoot
I think Prince/Artist formerly known as prince is under appreciated. He gets a few props now and then but I feel he was somehow always over shadowed.

Shnate McDuanus
Im feeling some Blue Cheer with a side of Sir lord baltimore! Oh, definitely. Not to mention Mahogany Rush, The Remains, The Bubble Puppy, Saxon, Cactus and Riot.
dem00n
Oh, definitely. Not to mention Mahogany Rush, The Remains, The Bubble Puppy, Saxon, Cactus and Riot. I agree with everything but i think Saxon have been getting alot of love lately.

NeoConMan
I dunno guys. ELO and Prince were HUGE for an extended period of time. Plenty of appreciation until it finally began to wane, eh? Silvertide. The Answer. New American Shame. Three bands that have it in spades, opened for big names, yet nobody knows who they are. Silvertide and NAS have now split up after only one album. RobinTheHood
This might be sacrelidge on a mostly guitar oriented forum, but I'm gonna go with Morphine. Very little guitar work, but mostly bass and sax driven - they produced some absolutely brilliant music. Also, Saxon? The "Denim and Leather", 1980's Saxon? Just curious because it didnt seem to fit with the rest of the songs listed. Kind of an oddball.
MrNylon
I'd have to say along with Blue Cheer, one of the finer bands that came out of that same time was Spirit. Canned Heat was another one that slipped by.

MrNylon
Blues Image was another band that was a lot better than the record sales showed. The last group of Iron Butterfly (with Mike Pinera from Blues Image), had a great sound and stage presence.
David Frederick
I'll second Spirit. I saw 'em in PHX and they were great. "Fresh Garbage" baby.
MrNylon
I'll second Spirit. I saw 'em in PHX and they were great. "Fresh Garbage" baby. "When I Touch You" off of the 12 Dreams album as well. My favorite turned out to be "Uncle Jack".

ChanMan
Leon Russell is not under appreciated in the ChanMan household :) The wife turned me on to him after we met... also Joe Cocker :) How about some Little Feat? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3tS7ihFiyg and maybe some Kickaxe? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dis39LcsbCU&playnext=1&list=PL404443F3F4FCF057&index=

Tman
Blues Image was another band that was a lot better than the record sales showed. The last group of Iron Butterfly (with Mike Pinera from Blues Image), had a great sound and stage presence. You mean...73 men sailed off.......Ride captain ride? One of my all time favorite songs with a great lead solo. How about Jonathan Edwards Sunshine? Not a band but a one hit singer. Also Dave Mason. tartanbeastie
For me, I have to say it would be "the toy dolls." An english band slightly comedic/punk. Vocals are erm unique but the actual musicianship is fantastic. The lead singer/guitarist "olga" is entertaining, and plays a mean guitar. They have written a lot of great tunes and covered lots of classics as well as classical tunes.
