  1. Left a big box of Christmas cookies with a card addressed to the Post Office telling them what a great job they did this year and how much I appreciate their service. I was going to leave a 6 pack with a bow on it but we did have lots of cookies so cookies it is. If there's any bunch of people who deserve our thanks during the pandemic, it's USPS, FedEx, UPS, all of those guys dragging big boxes through the diseased air we inhabit, ha, ha.
  2. Intercourse this year sez me. It can only get better from here on out.
  3. Thank you for posting that. They made it seem like recording that album was such a bleak affair but that sure didn't show it, they looked like they were having a good time.
  4. I wrote to Buck Dharma about Godzilla and he used an eBow for that bit about ripping the high tension wires down. That will wow the Mrs...
  5. Wife is health care, I'm an essential worker so we're just buying guitars and waiting. Well, I'm the one buying guitars but at least one of us is doing the right thing. They found out what's wrong with the wife: her heart is stopping. They won't put a pacemaker in her as she's "only" 54 so they just keep futzing with her meds. My suggestion was a doggie shock collar, just give her a good jolt every so often but she didn't seem too receptive to the idea. Women!
  6. Which Martin don't you like? Their low end ones just don't do it for me.
  7. I stand corrected after adjusting the pick height a little bit. Check out a current V if you can, it sounds pretty good through a Marshall with a little messing around.
  8. Here's 2020: https://www.gibson.com/Guitar/USA5KL895/Firebird/Tobacco-Burst Here's 2019: http://legacy.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/2019/USA/Firebird-2019.aspx Gibson is known to change things without notice so maybe my 2019 has the current pick ups in it. I know it sounds different than my other ones (they multiply when you're not looking).
  9. After seeing that video I thought you looked familiar.
  10. They're all The Sultans Of Swing! What do I win?
  11. I can't quite hear it from here but the workmanship looks impeccable.
  12. To my ears they didn't work out too well in a V. I spoke to a guy at Gibson repair and he said he had the same guitar (Faded V) and was thinking 57 Classics like I was. My current V has Burstbuckers of one sort or another which are okay. Not jaw dropping sound but it's not bad.
  13. Yeah, Humble Pie was great right at that time. I played that abum to death as a kid.
  14. Small poodle puppy has a hard time with a mouth full of spaghetti. That neck on that Gold Top is kind of a strange thing as it's smooth as can be, has really low frets and action but it doesn't have much taper to it and the nut is a bit high. The sounds that come out of it, though, are just addictive. I don't care what I'm playing, I just like hearing it.
  15. Woke up at 5, played guitar until 6 and then worked from 6 AM to 6:30 PM. It's like I want a guitar or something. Where is Santa Steve's paycheck when he needs it??? And try to bring me something good and don't dump it down the chimney like a UPS driver would do. Also discovered that the dog likes eating spaghetti which was pretty funny to watch.
  16. I didn't even notice the Zombie Thread, I was looking at the letters and trying to figure them out.
  17. Chasing your question all over this site... I have no experience with the Dirty Fingers but had an old Faded V with the 496/500 ceramics in them. Not my favorite, I think you nailed it with the tinny comment. I was leaning towards 57 Classics but sold the guitar off. Maybe 490R/T like the SG Standard has is what you're after?

  19. After over 100 years, the CS-336 also represented the realization of company founder Orville Gibson's goal to produce an instrument with one-piece back-and-sides construction You can't rush these things, you know.
  20. In this US they run $2000 - 2500, more or less.
  21. I think that guitar would cheer ANYONE up.
  22. I can not think of a more deserving person. That's just gorgeous, too. Congratulations on your ICONIC purchase!
  23. You bought an empty case?
  24. It still hasn't sold? He must be like those Firebird VII guys, keeps jacking the price up whenever someone inquires about it.
  25. Forced day off from work so got to spend 6 hours playing this new Gold Top Standard. Lot of truss rod, pick up, pole piece and string height adjustment but I think I've got it where it needs to be. The 50s neck on this thing is really big so it will take an awful lot of playing time to make it feel like my guitar when I pick it up. Initially it was at the super heavy thing with giant neck stage but it's getting there.
