brad1
I'm not working today. This just arrived from Sweetwater. It is the first time I've ever had a guitar shipped to me during the Winter. So of course.... I have to wait to open up the box until it warms up. Never again in Winter! It is just too much to endure! It will fit in the case pictured. Any guesses as to what it may be? Now excuse me, as I must involve myself in time consuming activities for the next 6 hours!!!!!! :(
stein
It's an EPIPHONE: I think it can take the temperature extremes. It's nitro you have to be more worried about. How's THAT for temptation? Sorry, I'm being a little selfish. I want to see what's in the case too. I have a feeling, knowing you, if YOU'RE exited, it's something I wanna see. rct
I've left Gibsons and Fenders in the trunk overnight in the dead of winter, taken them into the bar the next night and fired them up just fine. Guitars are not nearly as delicate as some would have you believe. rct

stein
Just seen one of these when stopping by GC on the way home. I didn't touch paws to it cause my paws were kinda dirty, but it was one of the nicest looking in terms of finish compared to the rest of the Epi's. Nice and shiney, and not quite as "goopy" looking like a lot of these poly finishes go. And...NICE looking wood. Great color. Your's is a bit more flamey. charlie brown
I DO wonder, the with the wide/wild popularity of Wildkats, WHY I rarely see any, being played "out!" Seems (to me) like they'd be a great guitar, for gigging...from bars, to stadiums! Any videos (NOT Demo videos, that is) or photos of Wildkats being used professionally, or otherwise? brad1
Good point CB. Now that you mention it, I don't see them played to often either. There are only 2 negatives I can find on the guitar. The first is the master volume. No need for it really. Wish instead they had a second tone. Next is the fretboard. My other Epis have all had just a natural rosewood board. This has some kind of stain that is horrible. It's really more of a brown paint. It covers up the wood grain, and it comes off and gets on your fingers and all the frets. It's almost like chalk. I have read about others who have talked about this on their fretboards, but this is my first encounter with it. I dislike it very much. I spent some time cleaning the board, and frets, and it's a little better. Don't know why they must do that. But overall it's still a great guitar! Love it immensely! Parabar
I have not experienced the fingerboard stain coming off in all my years of owning my Wildkat --- maybe they're using a different formula now. As for the master volume, it serves a very real purpose for players who frequently use both pickups together, as it allows you to balance the pickup volumes as you wish, then raise or lower the overall volume without affecting tone. Players who mostly use either the neck or bridge pickup alone may find it superfluous, but I find it very handy when using both pickups --- just like my Gretsches. Any videos (NOT Demo videos, that is) or photos of Wildkats being used professionally, or otherwise? charlie brown
The other thing I like about "Wildkats" (and the Alleykat, too) is/was that they're unique to Epiphone, and not a Gibson clone, etc. I think I remember a shot, or video, of one of the Bee Gee's using a "FlameKat!" Talk about obscure! CB
