there are many outside your country that really "like it " ,myself included,  and visit the USA  to see the good that your country has to offer  ,even  tho , ,  like every country, its not perfect, as long  as its a freedom loving democracy its all right in my books. People,  Americans included, are allways going to find reasons  to put down about the "other " countries of  world,  but, I feel that  looking  for the good in  somewhere or something gives us a a better world view and maybe some hope for better days to come.... have a nice day folks , Jim

Well jvi,  our main problem is too many people having different opinions as to what kind of country the U.S. is SUPPOSED to be.

Christian, Atheist, agnostic, interfaith, right, left,  forward looking, unchanging, white powered, black powered, diverse, inclusive, elitist, capitalist, "socialist"( for those who actually know what that is),  youth centered, age centered or not centered at all.

It can drive a person nuts.  For more than a hundred years we had a statue on our East coast beckoning people to come here and join us.  Now we have people who want to build walls to keep 'em out.  But as for me jvi,  you and yours are welcome here anytime.

I’d love to go to Canada right now but the Canadian truckers are blocking the border. Trudeau is sorting it right out. “If you guys don’t leave the border I’ll get mad and that will show you truckers who’s boss of Canada”.

Its not as easy as you think. Look up what you have to do to denounce your American Citizenship.

That’s my point.  No matter how bad they claim that this country is, they’re not about to give-up what their citizenship means..  They love to talk, but they’re not willing to suffer the consequences.  Nothing is keeping them from getting on a plane and leaving for a country that hates us as much as “they” do.  All one needs is a passport and they’re easy to get and then fly to a country that will accept you and denounce your birth country from there.  There are numerous rich celebrities who routinely travel the world who proclaimed they would leave the country if certain people won elections and/or if certain things were not done.  They are still here, even though things didn’t go their way.>………….I think most of these people would benefit to some degree by just sitting-down and playing a guitar.

Here is another one. I decided to retire in December. I'm going stir crazy doing nothing at home, and want to get a PT job to get out of the house and have a little cash for guitar strings. I am a bad person and smoke weed, which is legal in the state I live in. Yet, every place I look to apply requires a drug test. Even working in a grocery store. What is the difference if I take a bong hit when I get home, or pound a 12 pack, as long as I can make to my shift on time, and both are legal in my state? I certainly will not be high at work. I have never had a drug test outside the military on a regular basis except for when onboarding for a job. I start smoking weed as soon as I am hired, and I pass my p-iss test. Never had an accident or a lost day at work due to it. Are these companies so dim witted that they really think their employees are truly drug free? Yet being a drunk is okay, cause its legal and there is no panel on the drug test for it.

I share the sentiment… I don’t come to work high or course but what I do at home is my f’n business. It’s weed for crying out loud… this has to be one of the most moronic policies in general for companies to enforce.

I also love it when the telemarketers call, and tell me my car warranty has almost expired, yet when asked they can not tell me what make or model car I own. Its usually a Filipina who calls and then I start asking if they are really calling for sex, and I tell them I like to touch little boy's pee pee's. By then they hang up.

The problem is - Our country was a Melting Pot.  After the first generation, people assimilated. "We"  benefited from the good they brought with them and 'they' benefited from the good  we and our forefathers had created.

And that Statue of Liberty -   don't worry: all those folks who want  "No Walls"  (code-speak for Open Borders).  They'll be tearing that down, just like all the other statues.

Just out of curiosity, what era do you consider the “first generation”? The 1400’s, 1500’s, 1600’s, 1700’s or 1800’s? Another thing I don’t understand is who are “we” and “they”? Weren’t we they at one point?

I believe first generation means the first ones from your family to come here, so pick a date.

What statues?  Oh, you mean the ones who were enemies of the United States and our constitution?  I don't see how the Statue Of Liberty fits in with any of those.

Whitefang

Columbus.   Never set foot here.  Washington, Lincoln, Father Junipero Serra,  Teddy Roosevelt.   They started with Robert E. Lee and just kept going.  Someone will fabricate an 'evil' to assign to the Statue of Liberty.  Or the guy who created it.   The people doing this are 'enemies of our constitution'.

If  I have to explain what 'First Generation'  means - then I suggest you should be asking for your money back from whatever schools you may have attended.     And, if you don't understand what 'first generation' means -  you'll certainly not understand any other part of my post.     I'm shocked.  Shocked I tell you.

And you and others will not understand why the fact universities are now  telling us  the term and concept of  "Melting Pot"  is evil.  Racist, White Supremacist - the usual  reasons,   is another danger.   They are just pushing further the 'tear down the statues'  program  another step further.

Whoopi Goldberg said a few weeks ago and then got a 2 week ban for saying "The Holocausts was not about race".

You stupid ignorant t-wat,  it wall all about race. It was about an Austrian guy who became the leader of Germany and wanted to eradicate all the Jews. How is that not about race. Why because the Jews were not black like her? Now she is back on The View to spread more of her stupidity to the Libs and they eat it up like a 10 piece McNugget meal.

But she apologized, so that makes it like she didn't say it, right? Own your s-hit b-tich.

Remember when Whoopi and Ted did this funny thing. People forget about this. I think it was to Roast Sherman Hemsley. They would be cruxified now if they did it, but back then it was for comedy sake. Look at Whoopi yukking it up.

There are people in Texas that say the civil war was about states rights while, at the same time, denying millions of people basic human rights! Hmmmmm!
