You OLDER guys have a song that "takes you back"?

This is probably one of my all time favorite songs I've ever heard (young'uns, go listen to Trivium). I was 11 years old when this song hit the radio stations, and I still love it now.

I'm with you, Mick... there are dozens of songs that "take me back".

 

Some remembrances are good...others are not.

 

Two of the most influential guitar songs from my youth:

&

"Walk Don't Run" by The Ventures

More Than A Feeling was the song that made me realize what sound sculpting was all about.

 

A good pair of headphones, eyes closed, and how many guitar parts layered in there?

It's like a Les Paul orchestra!

 

You could visualize a Les Paul right over here, another one right over there...

Then the lead parts are like you have your head stuck in the amp.

 

The guitars would drop back and sound like they were at the far end of a big concert hall....

 

 

Miking distance, an art form unto itself.
