"Taxman" by The Beatles because I get to shred on that one and solo for as long as I want (I signal the rest of the band when I'm done by holding out the root) in three different spots as opposed to the two solos Paul played on the original. We don't play covers note for note but rather play them our own way.

For those players who like to tune to "C" and only play two of the 6 available strings try something novel like tune to 440 and play all 6 strings.

Why? That's not going to give them the sound they are going for.

Thanks, nothing better than cranking up the LP with some Stereo Chorus and occasional Flanger and jamming with my son who plays bass. He's still learning but he can fake his way through enough to make it sound good.

Someday, I may start or join a RUSH tribute band.

See where I'm going with this?

By learning all the tunes I have found greater insight to where the bands were at at the time.

Either that or I was just too lazy to switch while holding my guitar. [confused]

Nice list and nice method, Laney! I tried running through all of Disraeli Gears once. I might go back to it at some point.

Karen...

I sent you an email. I think I can get you either an FLV or WMV format of Duprees in the 50s or somewhere in the 90s with it. I like the arrangement so I kinda do pretty much as much as I can with the thick chords 'stedda the newer straight acousting strumming?

Here's the old Duprees on youtube:

Yeah, Jo Stafford did it first, I think.

This is the more or less current Duprees group doing the piece - with kinda an unnecessary intro.

Whole Lotta Love - Zeppelin

American Psycho - treble charger

Limelight - Rush

Photograph - Def Leppard

2 Minutes to Midnight - Maiden

Detroit Rock City & Rock and Roll All Nite - KISS

Sweet Child O Mine - GNR

Rockin All Over the World - John Fogerty

Dream On - Aerosmith

Basket Case, Longview, & Brain Stew - Green Day

Also anything by AC/DC.... their songs are so simple to play yet are still great songs. Plus everybody knows most of them and theyre just good ol timeless songs that everyone can get really into. ;)
