COSMOS by Carl Sagan

Yeah' date=' some of the science is a little outdated (not much), but it's fascinating and written so the regular guy can understand it. Carl was a great humanitarian too.[/quote']

+1. Awesome book. I just read this. Carl Sagan had a way of making very complex things understandable.

In no particular order and for no particular reason other than I enjoyed them all:

"On the Road" - Jack Kerouac

"Angels & Demons" - Dan Brown (trendy, I know)

"The Stand" - Steven King (also, The Dark Tower series)

"Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas" - Hunter S. Thompson

Some guitar stuff:

"Billy Gibbons: Rock and Roll Gearhead" - Billy Gibbons or some other writer

"Analogman's Guide to Vintage Effects" - Analog Tom

"The Heroin Diaries" - Nikki Sixx

Two books that are definitive if you're the least bit interested in the Beatles are

"The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions" by Marc Lewishon/ The where, when, how and who played on every session.

"Beatles Gear" by Andy Babiuk/ Details all the equipment used by the band on tour and in the studio.

This spring I read "Heaven And Hell (my life with the Eagles)" by Don Felder/ Recommend it highly.

To Have and Have Not - Hemingway

The Sun Also Rises - Hemingway....

Two excellent choices. The best of ol' Ernest' date=' IMO. Not many people list [i']To Have and Have Not[/i] as a favorite. Decent movie made of that one too - Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. Tasty.

The one book that I absolutely HATED is "The Catcher in the Rye." I know it's a classic, but I wanted to beat the crap out of the main character.

"... really..."

*WHACK!!!!*

I still finished it, but not without a bit of anger. Then again, I suppose the fact that it evoked a strong emotion from my must give it some sort of merit.
