rocketman
Peart....nuff said. Definitely for me too. The guy can swing too (check out). Note that all of his hits are dead on center. He is also extremely modest. He openly says that he could never play like Buddy Rich and has a lot of respect for many players listed on this thread. RichCI
Tough one as I like different drummers for different reasons. Dave Grohl - Listen to the "Backbeat" soundtrack; he tears it up. Charlie Watts - He's not fancy, but he keeps it in the pocket and plays with subtle finesse and understands dynamics. Sim Cain - Probably the most amazing technical drummer; incredible sense of timing. (Wikipedia | MySpace)

Basshole
Moon and pert were amazing drummers no doubt. they had huge drum sets and could do alot. personally I dont like huge kits. Bonham had a jazz kit and could do alot with just 5 piece.
The Mick
I think that Peart has it beat though... When I was a stage hand back in the 90's I worked with Rush and we were not aloud to go anywhere near Peart's Set only Peart and his tech. I mean not even to set up the par cans.
