The conversation on a forum doesn’t align with your personal convictions so we shouldn’t have this conversation.  Got it.

I play by the rules here man… if someone wants to be insulting in an immature manner for me sharing my opinion, but when I say to have a rebut or rather converse about it… that’s not right. You’re distorting what my intent is. Have the conversation I’m not a mod. I questioned whether this is getting into violent discussion… are we allowed to start posting pics of firearms here?

Everyone was having a good conversation and then you came in with your opinion and comments about people playing baby games. Nobody had said ONE WORD to you at that point and you could have just dropped it. But no. You insist on picking a fight. If you don’t like the conversation, nobody is forcing you to engage in it.

Sorry I shared my opinion to spoil everyone's fun...  Not one word in retort to my post... yet.  I'm not picking a fight, so don't make it like I am.  I stated my opinion, someone reacted like a baby and since we are off-scope here anyhow, let's engage in gun conversations.  I'm not allowed to react to someone spamming sad emojiis on all my posts?  Isn't that flaming - i.e. against the rules?  Maybe not here, but happens quite a bit when I post about m,y "opinions", then the ganging up begins.  I'm not forced to be here, correct, but I play by rules and I am allowed to engage if I follow them, correct?  Get it together man... You know you're corralling your popularity by wielding your moderation powers here...  I'm sure you appreciate all those "thanks" emojiis to affirm your justifications.  Makes me questions why I've participated here for years somewhat...  Totally avoided my points too which is nice and "just".  Nice place we have here.  Wouldn't mind if my kids chimed in on the conversation too.  Call it a fight if you perceive it this way.  You're wrong and if you're gonna ban me for saying you're wrong, then so be it.  Make an example out of me.  I'm sure I won't be missed here anyhow.

I don’t see any reason to get personal with me. I used to be pretty popular here, then I became a mod. I have been a pariah ever since. If I’m using this forum to make myself a big shot, I’m in the wrong place.

You’re not going to get banned. There’s no reason for it and I’m not ‘low’ enough to ban you just because we don’t align. That’s not how this forum is run. At least not what I can control. I respect your opinion about guns and would not force my beliefs on you. I do realize we all stray off topic, and that’s just the nature of forums. I don’t think anyone would intentionally derail a thread, and even if they did, it’s not going to drop a turd in anyones corn flakes.

I’ve got no beef with you. I also have no idea who the sad emoji person is. Those things are more trouble than they’re worth.

I gave myself a Dutch oven this morning, stunk so bad not only did I have to get out of the bed, I had to get out of the room. Lol.

I try to save them until I have a victim. Only works for a few minutes, otherwise my eyes start to bulge.

When I was in the old Navy,  we would muster every morning.  Line up - a couple of dozen of us - to make sure we were all there.  If we were inside -  not out on the weather decks -  there was an unofficial contest to see who could cause us to break ranks with the most rank of wind breaking, award winning Dutch Ovens ever.  Broccoli and Hard Boiled eggs for Midnight Rations ensured a trophy.   (Some flirted with being violent. )

I own a 9mm. Not for show or to be cool. I own it because if someone does come in to my house intending to do me or my family harm at least I may have a chance.

I would like to go to the grocery store and hunt some milk cartons.

P.S. I am not the Sad Emoji Fairy.

Chances are more likely they'll go into your house while you're not home and steal that 9mm you bought to "protect" your home.  Unless you take it with you every time you leave your house.  [wink]

I was going to have a psychiatrist come round your way to check you out until the -  j/k.

Chief,  I have a Drive Thru Window for shrinks, thanks!

BTW -  In the old Navy each ship had a Landing Party.  The one I was assigned to had two weeks of small arms  ( and related) training at Virginia Beach.   I thought they let the Coasties have guns....?   Or did NightHawk get after them too ?

I'm assuming you're asserting they're easy to open and retrieve your handgun in the dark while half asleep.  Right?

Agreed unless you sleep with your pistol loaded, not gonna do much about saving your hide.

I’m not against guns for the record but I don’t understand why some think we have to own them. Again I work for defense and around a lot of people who own a lot of firearms. My friends own a lot - and yes all in gun safe. Literally, if I was against peoples’ rights to own a gun why the heck would I work for a company that is in the business of selling firearms? Again I just don’t believe that it will save you or even give you the chance to do so. For everyone it helps, there’s a lot more that have no chance to save their own hides.

There are a lot of people who shouldn’t own guns too I believe, but that’s neither here nor there. If you’re a hunter, yes get a rifle. If you are in law enforcement you need a firearm. I serve my country by making technology improve combat situations which may be necessary for the men and women who serve. But alas, just a job and I am doing for a paycheck. Better than automotive companies who have been polluting our environment for God know how many years - only other jobs around my area in my area of expertise. I worked for the auto industry for many years and all I got were sub-par paychecks and hours of my life lost so the corporations can rake in the billions.

The USCG does indeed have guns. I was an Electricians Mate in both services and carried a pair of fuse pullers in my pocket and not a side arm. And I got the same pay and benefits as being in the other 4 branches. And its Senior Chief (Ret) if you please, I earned it. Sorry you had to go to VB that place is a s-hit hole. I hate going there for anything. I will have to go to VB in the next few months to see Lyle Lovett and then again to see Little Feat.

That may be, but I am a responsible gun owner and it has a lock on it when I am not shooting it at the range.

The Old Navy is a store that sells clothes. When were you in when the Monitor and Merrimack were commisioned?

I was in the USN form '87 - '91 and the USCG form '92 - '11.

Does future splurging count? I put a hundey down on a 2021 Bronco, built Ford tough and the way I want it. On a long wait list - a Michigan person doesn't want a canvas roof for the heat to escape, and they got problems with molded in color hardtops.  Big tires, leather, high end BangOlafsen  stereo. Been waiting since March of last year for it to be built. Ford keeps sending me little trinkets to keep me interested, my wife sells  them as fast as they come on marketplace.

I’ve got big concerns because it’s sort of been discussed (truck forum) that independent Ford dealerships can jack up the price of what you ordered….hope not I will walk.

Got to share my experience with guns…it always an opinionated subject. I’m what you would call a enthusiast, own a few and enjoy them for exactly what they are for. They are dangerous and you better not f around with them our you could end up seriously hurt or worse dead. None of your business how I store keep or carry them, or what I sleep with.  ( I know a girl from cinci man was she fun)

Right now guns are a hot topic in Michigan, a f’d up child killed other children in early Dec. My granddaughter was in the school when it happened. It was her class the cell phone video was shot in that made the media rounds. She lost her shoes climbing out the window to get away. It has impacted her and the family in a way that…well frankly I don’t think she will ever be better. My daughter her mom is in the Junior High school  and we discussed this crazy little peckerwood murderer while playing rummy on Thanksgiving day and the trouble was noticed by the school.

I was so angry, frustrated and helpless when I caught up to my granddaughter I could hardly speak. I finally did gather the strength and (hopefully wisdom) to let her know, I prayed and thanked God she was ok, that  she was brave, smart, and bright and I was so happy she got away and came home to us. That I was sorry so very sorry about her friends, and asked her to please reach inside and find that beautiful spark of happiness that we have cherished for the last 14 years. Not to let this define her life, and not to spend one moment trying to figure out the why question on the murderer.

So in closing I don’t feel like I have to own guns…and this situation my granddaughter lived has not made me want to purge any guns.  If I didn’t know how to use them safely,  I would sell every one and buy that guitar of my dreams, and I might someday.

Funny side story when my grand daughters Mom was 16, 17 (she just turned 40) she had  a date with a green mohawk sporting punker. I met the kid shooting pool in my rec room.  All of our guns were in a non-locking the closet in the rec room. The very next day I went out and bought a gun safe.

I to have worked, still do for those environment polluting automotive companies…now that’s a different opinion. What about China not joining the green accord, and the lumber companies who cut down all the mahogany and rosewood, they have certainly done worse for the environment! What about those hillbillys in the northwest with the chain saws going out in the middle of these giant forests and cutting down all the splatted maples damn chain saws!

For sure this is a guitar forum, and I come here to read and look at guitar porn, but I thinks it ok to delve into other subjects…I would never attempt to push an agenda…and dog gone it I never got any emojis…can you collect and buy Gibson stuff with them?
