Duende
he he great thread... all of them do! :D There is Tony, Rick, Manuel, Work horse, Brian, Tigger to name a few of the 18. I even have a long running dispute with Rick and Tony going on. As Tony is not taken abroad Rick boasts Rick "you see Tony when ; you're the kind of guitar like myself, Matt bonds with you and chooses you for the more high profile stuff ..." Tony: cursing under his breath "no, that is because I am more valuable to Matt actually and takes a 'lesser guitar like you RICK" Also, when I got Robot guitar (GOR) the other Gibson's *****ed for ages with stuff like "he really reckons himself; he'll probably break and go crying to Matt" Robot "just because I am limited edition and you lot are all plain Jane's" M3 "your the plane Jane; I have poplar and walnut in my construction; not just run of the mill mahogany!" You get the picture LOL Matt
Cruznolfart
The only guitar I own that's been given an official name is below. I had it built in 1998 in memory of my Dad. Forum member King Arthur was both clever and thoughtful enough to suggest the name I bestowed upon it the same day he offered it, some 11 years later. ChanMan
Yep! My '83 Strat is named "the Strat" My Mahogany Strat is "The Red One" My LP is "The Les Paul" (the wife calls her "Leslie") My Hondo is called "The 12 String"... My Ibanez is called "The Ibanez"... It keeps going in a similar vein... Yeah, I know... not real creative, but it comes from years of just having the one electric and one acoustic; no names were needed

Zaphod B
Oh, I name all my stuff. My black Pontiac G8, I call "The Pontiac." Or "Dad's Car" if necessary. My motorcycle, a Kawasaki ZX-12R is "the bike" or "the motorcycle." Pretty creative so far, huh? The weedwhacker: Most of the time I call it "The Weedwhacker" unless it won't start, which is when I call it "You ******* *** ***** ****!!!" My guitars: This is tough, especially with the 3 Les Pauls. One is "the R4" or, as my wife knows it, "the expensive one." Another is "you know, the red one." And the third is "my old one." Bet you guys are dying to know what I've named the lawn mower, the bicycles, and the washer and dryer! :-

Riffster
I can't make myself name a guitar, I tried but it just seemed made up to me. I tried to name my Explorer "Cap'n Crunch" but I desisted. Imagine "~me~ hey I am going to bring Cap'n Crunch to the jam tonight, ~my friends~ who the hell is Cap'n Crunch? ~me~ you know, my Explorer ~friends just go quiet... Also, even when my native language defines genre for every object (for some reason) I just cannot refer to guitars as "her" just an "it" to me. I feel utterly silly trying to call a guitar "her"... Hector Arcadius
My Les Paul Studio WB has a name: Steven. Well, to begin with, with the mahogany (instead of maple) top, the worn brown finish and the 2 BB pros, it's definately a ''he'', not a ''she''. The name is something it took from the legendary character in the Alice Cooper's classic album, ''Welcome to my nightmare''. Well, it certainly had to have something to do with Alice you see... And I just thought that ''Alice'' is not at all a bad name for a guitar... But for something with a dark (think wine-red) maple top on it... Just thoughts...:-
iSoto
My Squier Strat: "My first guitar" aka "The guitar that got gutted" My Gibson SG: "My Gibson" aka "My USA Guitar" - "The SG" My Epiphone EM-1: "My Epi" aka "That guitar I regret buying" I'm sorry, the idea of naming my guitars after a girl/woman just creeps me out. Sounds OK when someone else does it to their guitars. It's just not my thing. One love

Notes_Norton
Funny, I name my cars and many other possessions but not my guitars or other musical instruments. I've occasionally thought about this and this is the best I can come up with. I really consider my instruments as an extension of myself, not a foreign object that I have to deal with. So my Es-330 is called Gibson. Since I have 2 Epis, I call them the Casino and the Flat Top. The ESP is the ESP. Leilani's Parker, Alverez Ovation and Ibanez are just that as well. But my car's name is Penelope, but we call her Penny. The last one was Betty, before that Abigale but we called her Abbie and before that Gloria. The only male car I ever had was Freddie the 124 Fiat Spider (and the only car I ever had that I drove at 135mph). Freddie looked like this Notes
