I'm the dude with the devil eyes playing harp. That's my daughter to my right. She's an amazing talent. This was a benefit at a private club that are supporters of the Scottish Rangers Soccer Club a couple of years ago. You can't see him, but my buddy Phil is rocking with me on a B3 off to the left of the picture.

RSDx - I've played upon invitation with a local church band' date=' my

next-door neighbor tossed a song list to me with song keys. I think

their jaws hit the floor when we played "If we are the Body" by

Casting Crowns - I played the first verse in a churchy manner, but

when the second verse and chorus came along I gently kicked in

the Gibson 498T in the bridge and added some muted CRUNCH and

perfectly matching lead tags, then full BOOM when second chorus

came around. IT BELONGED! MY inner being told me so! Too hot

for the older crowd, I guess?[/quote']

We play that song all the time in our church. And yeah, some of the older folks

kinda squirm a bit!!

But the message is a good one.

Thanks, Gord. I posted the VID in the Favorite Warm ups thread, I

had forgotten about how much inner emotion the song could stir

up if you really get into it!

Nice to put some faces to names. Loved the Kinks cover too. very underrated band IMO. Their late 60s/70s stuff especially. Here are two pics of my two current bands and an assortment of Epi pics:

Damn, dude! Thought you were older for some reason! Maybe because you know who Bettie Page is, and recognized my Kinks song! :)

=D> .... Great images!!!!

Here's one of my last gigs (1987 at the Roxy). It was a sad time for me because even at the age of 21' date=' I was starting to feel too old for it all... Probably because I had lost two band mates that were killed whom were original founding members that I grew up with since grade school..... I still think about them often.

Anywhoo, I'm the dude with the pink Moser strat....LOL

What was your band called Duane? You look, shall we say, significant.

Amino, Phil is an amazing musician and it's a shame he is not mentioned more often. One of my favorite guitar players. I love his telling the story of the time he finally got to meet Sir Paul Mccartney. Great stuff!

Hey Cookieman,

Yeah Keaggy is one of my biggest inspirations.

I've seen him live twice.

The first time was in the early 90's with members of Chagall Guevera (Chagall Guevera is still one of my all time favorite CD's) during the "Crimson and Blue" (another amazing CD) era he was playing that old Les Paul plain top and a Zion strat through Vox AC's it was a great show.

Met him again in 2007 when that pic was taken. He was solo that night. It was a benefit for Down's Syndrome.

It was Keaggy, an acoustic guitar and a digitech Jam man. Basically a full band. LOL!

He would lay down a loop of percussion from tapping on the guitar body in various places. then a bass loop from the low E and A strings on top of that.

Then he would layer a rhythm guitar part and then solo over the top of that.

He even did back up vocal loops by singing into the soundhole! Alternate tunings, unusaul scales, impeccable technical skills and only 9 fingers. I was at once inspired and frustrated.

I brought along the LP sleeve from the first Keaggy album I ever owned, a live LP with 2 ch Acts, and not only did he sign it he talked to me about that tour as if he had nothing better to do.

Most artists I've met would not even look at you when they signed an autograph.

Keaggy is a class act.

  • 5 weeks later...

I knew I had a pic or two somewhere. And playing an Epiphone to boot. Is it a Riviera? I seem to recall it was dark red or burgundy. I didn't like it much, slightly dead sound, didn't jangle for me. This was about 1986; the guitar wasn't mine, I borrowed it from a mate after mine got nicked at a gig.

Last local "B.O.B." which we (of course) didn't win, because the sound was run by a competing band (Who owned the PA, as well),

and who (of course) won the competition. LOL! But, we had Fun, and that was the main thing, for me, anyway. We did get 2 gigs

out of it, and that's always good! Lots of folks seemed to like what we did/do, as well. We were the only "Classic Rock" band, there.

The Rest were all "Metal" or "Drop-D Hard Rock/scream in the mic" types. ;>) The Name of our (current) band is "TOAD!" ("They're Old As Dirt")

(However, due to "family problems," we've lost our drummer....again, due to his moving back to Colorado!) ;>b

I'm the one, showing his best side (or, was it trying to figure out where "that note" is?), playing the SG, with my

bud's Duane on the left (Bass), and Roger on the right (Guitar). Our (now departed for Colorado) drummer Clint,

is (unfortunately) near invisable, behind his drums. We're Sorry, to see him leave, as he was a great drummer...

but...."That's Rock & Roll!"

And....how about that Classic "Stage Set Design?!" I tell you, they spared no expense, at this place! LOL!!

Man you guts are so lucky' date=' I would actually give up one of my guitars for a copy of a picture of me and the band I played with all during the early seventies. Not one lousy picture.

[/quote']

I can relate. Off all the pic's that were taken I only have two. Here's our feeble '64/'65 Polaroid attempt at a "publicity photo" mimicking a local "landmark" LOL. I'm on the far left.
