davenumber2 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Gibson recently came out with a new burst color for the J-45. Thoughts? I kinda like it. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/RS45CBNH
Dave F Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I like the burst. Would have put a different pickguard.
j45nick Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I think it's f'ugly. Is it supposed to be a spin on Argentine gray?
gov Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 funny you posted this---saw that on sweetwater a couple days ago and was curious if it's an "exclusive" would like to see it in person. I think it's cool and being a bit of a photographer, i also know that God awful backdrop they have photographed it against is NOT helping it any. I'd be willing to bet it looks dramatically different in a normal setting.
zombywoof Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Maybe I am missing something here but I am not seeing a cobra connection. In the words of my kid - Icky.
E-minor7 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Too gray gone in these photos - but hey, look at the guard position. Do we see a full ring ! Not that it's an issue for me really -
EuroAussie Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Other than those tuners I really dig that burst, there's something nice and morbid about it. I imagine somebody from the Adams family would like it.
onewilyfool Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Interesting look...I would like to see this one up close.
Motherofpearl Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Other than those tuners I really dig that burst, there's something nice and morbid about it. I imagine somebody from the Adams family would like it. Agree those tuners I hate more than anything
quapman Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I think it looks great. Would like to see one in person.
mountainpicker Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I like it too. I think it will age well, and even if it doesn't it will probably be valuable just because it will probably be rare. Who knows, it could be the defining color of the next decade. One of the things I like about Gibson is that they aren't afraid to experiment, and it is sort of a legacy of the company.
BluesKing777 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Maybe I am missing something here but I am not seeing a cobra connection. In the words of my kid - Icky. I am missing the connection as well - perhaps a cobra is about to 'burst' out of the soundhole? As said before, there are photos and there are photos - mine being the first category. In the shop, it may look glorious. I saw the photo of this National while I was looking for information on them and I didn't like it at all, but one in the actual shop just about leapt off the wall (like a cobra?): http://www.nationalguitar.com/national-reso-phonic/Triolian-12-Fret-Walnut BluesKing777.
retrorod Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I much prefer Sepia tones in good photo images and NOT on my guitars.......
onewilyfool Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Maybe scales are easier on a Cobra burst guitar???? The price of that guitar would take quite a bite out of my pocketbook......There have been some pretty strong reactions to this guitar, I don't like to see all this venom about such a new guitar..........This guitar comes with Cobra strings, coiled up in nice packaging....Fangs for posting this...
BluesKing777 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I was pretty keen on the guitar, but didn't want to get 'stung'..... BluesKing777.
passthej45 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Doesn't "strike" me as particularly attractive.
BluesKing777 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Don't forget to allow for a real Cobra Snakeskin guitar strap to go with the Cobra Burst: http://snakeskinstraps.com/cobra.html BluesKing777.
onewilyfool Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Wonder if I'd get rattled playing that Cobraburst???
BluesKing777 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Wonder if I'd get rattled playing that Cobraburst??? Your comments can be quite "Venomous" sometimes.... Sorry OWF, I''ll crawl back in to my hole.... BluesKing777.
