Soooo much going on here that you guys need to hear about.

First, thank you again for those who donated or sent checks. We are currently sitting at $1315 which is fantastic. We still have a ways to go to cover all the vet bills for these 9 dogs.

Now, How about some happy endings for some of this story?

Through networking between various dog rescue groups I am happy to announce that EVERY SINGLE PUPPY WAS ADOPTED!

Here they are mugging for the camera for the last time as a group. From here each one goes to a permanent home with their new family. Families must fill out an application and someone must visit their home to make sure they are suitable for these pups. These guys are little but they won't be for long. There mother is 70 pounds and at 6 weeks they were weighing in at 20 pounds. Some of them were transported to far away states by volunteer transports to be sure they were in the best homes.

Don't think Tercet's new mom can smile any bigger and there are 3 little boys waiting for her at home that can't wait to see her.

It was all tears of joy for Tanka's new mom and there is a little human boy waiting at home for his new best friend.

Several of these guys ended up in your neck of the woods, Karloff. If you're ever in Nashville. Holler!

So hows Rhoda doing?

She seems very happy to be fostered here in my back yard. It's kind of a cross between her old home in the woods and her 6 week stay in Judy's basement. She's had her rabies shots so she's legal. She's very puppy like and wants to run and jump and play so badly. To be honest I want to run and jump and play with her but she's not as healthy as she thinks she is. I took her for her first round is treatments last Friday. She is now taking a very heavy dose of Doxycycline every day for the next 30 days. This should kill off the two tick born infections she has. Those two ailments are not life threatening but so long as she has them her immune system is being taxed. At the end of the 30 day Doxy treatment she will start her first of two 30 day rounds of heartworm treatments. This will knock her on her butt I'm told. It's effect is not unlike chemo treatments for people. It pushes a very toxic chemical through her blood stream to kill the heartworms and their larva. During this two rounds of treatment it is important to keep her heart rate as low as possible as chunks of the dead heartworms could break off and lodge in her heart valves of block an artery. For this reason we must keep her in a pen or in her crate in our living room most of the time. Exercise is limited to slow walks on a leash. This will be a hard 90 days for her. There is a chance she will not survive it. But when it's over she will be strong again and ready for a good home.

Hi Searcy,

I've just read your store and I'm glad you had a happy-ending saga.

I wish the world had more guys like you. Persons who know that they can't change everything but try to do their best.

PS. I love Sestina and her sad looking.

Cheers.

Hope the treatments go smoothly. Our rescue Boston got a heartworm treatment two years ago. He took it like a champ, but it did prematurely grey the black fur on his face.

Thanks for the encouragement EVOL. I'm hoping for the best but getting ready for the worst.

Time for an update. First I would like to again thank everyone who has donated. So far we have reached over $2100!! That's going to go a long way to covering these bills.

Second I would like to report that Rhoda is doing well in her heart worm treatments. She has had her second round and while it knocked her out for a few days she bounced back and is doing good as new now.

The clinic she is being treated at is called Animalia and is an amazing facility. More like a spa...

This is mostly what her days are like right now. She naps and gets walked on a leash and wishes she could eat what ever it is I'm eating.

On October 25th she will officially be done with her heart worm treatment. Then it will be time to get her fixed. Once she has recovered from that we can let her run like a wild thing again and see where her forever home is.
