Oh yeah, she's a beauty.  You have to fight the temptation of spooning with it tonight when you go to bed.

Nope, spooning was not on my list of things to do. Broken headstocks on new guitars are a major no no

Pretty good timing then!

Congrats. You must be very happy.

I am. It wasn't meant to be a Christmas present to myself  but it was. The amp tech at the store suggested I mail myself a nice thank you note

It does look kind of lonely.

Maybe a nice ES-335 to keep it company?

I have a 339. I like the 335 but they are kind of larger than I like. That doesn't mean I'd rule one one out completely though

Very nice - congrats.  Tell us more about it.  From what I can see it is a Gold Top Standard with P-90s, don't understand why it took 2 1/2 months to get it?  Was it a special order with some special features we can't see from the photo?

Enjoy!

It's just your everyday  50s Std. The story I got was that Gibson sold out what they had and made another run of them. Had I ordered it a few weeks before I would have gotten it in a couple of days. The shop I use isn't a real high volume dealer so they may be low on the totem pole for small orders

Damn that’s pretty.... CONGRATS!!

Yes, it really is. And sounds just as nice as it looks. And surprisingly enough to me I've spent as much time on the clean side of things with the volume rolled back a bit as I have wide open. That's not my normal thing

Congratulations on the new goldtop!  I like these 50s Standards (w/ P90s) they have out now A LOT better than the 2018 Classics.  The fit and finish looks better IMHO.  I sold my 2018 Classic goldtop because I couldn't run into one that didn't weigh nearly 10lbs, they all had poorly crafted fret ends that didn't catch the high E string on the nibs, poorly cut nut slots (pinged when I bent the G and B strings), and I also bought my first one (that I returned for another) that had huge gouge under the pickguard from the screw that holds the pickguard on the guitar (maybe GCs fault...).  Another thing I noticed was that the neck pickups were slanted - i.e. not parallel with the strings which sort of annoyed me.  I don't know if it was supposed to be that way or not, but I didn't care for it.  All my other LPs neck pickups are nearly perfectly parallel with the strings, so I was under the impression that the P90s should be as well.  Either way, it sounded OK.  I digress...  I do like what they have changed though about the fit and finish though on the new P90 goldtops.  I like the old style tuners much better than the Grovers that were on the 18 Classic and I like the knobs that have the historic pointers too - as opposed to the gold speed knobs.  I still think that the 2018 Classic goldtop was a good looking guitar - no doubt - but I think the one you picked up is just better looking - more R6 like.  Anyhow, wanted to share a bit of my experience with the 2018 goldtops and why I like the 2019 50s Standards with P90s more.  Oh yeah, I like that they used an amber colored toggle switch cap too.  So in sum, I hope you enjoy the heck out of your long awaited goldtop for many years to come.  Really classy looking LP!  Best wishes 😁

I really like this one. It's my first P90 guitar. I'd played some, but never owned one. What is really surprising me is that as good as it sounds unleashed it's spent more time on my clean channels with volume and tone rolled back a bit. It just has a really full, warm sound to it that none of my other guitars do

Great guitar....

Why did it take almost 3 months to be delivered???

The story I got was that the original run of them sold out so they had to make some more. Had I ordered a few weeks before it would have probably been just a few days. My local store isn't a high volume seller. They had a Tribute model with P90 but not a LP. Yeah, the Tribute is quite a bit cheaper but I really wanted this one
