He did e-mail me about it, but I didn't realize it was a permanent ban until I read this. I liked him but didn't read everything he posted, so I don't necessarily know how he affected other members. He had a couple of enemies; that's for certain. I replied to him this morning.

I usually thought of him as being "devil's advocate". Maybe not his true intent, but if you look at some posters in that light they're easier to deal with(or put up with) and helps in keeping you from breaking out into a tizzy and acting all girlie about it. And contacting the mods to ban this person or that because, "they won't be nice and join in on the circle jerk." 🙄 In the over 20 years I've been a member of various forums, that kind of attitude has been dangerously diluting what made them enjoyable to begin with. SteveFord
I could be mistaken but I think he likes Martins. I do remember one fellow on another forum saying, "Nobody likes to be told that their baby's ugly". However, he did keep things entertaining but I don't believe he wishes to return. I might meet up with him at the Martin factory if he takes the plunge on an M-36. That's only because he's never played a J-40, that's the HD-28V sound in a smaller package. CROWB8
I'm still kinda new here, but I got along fine with him. I did note he was a sort of "devils advocate" that one person said. But what impressed me most about him was when he greeted me in the "Introduce Yourself" section. He killed me with guit porn. I enjoyed every pic. Made me feel welcome. I thank him for that. If one is courious, you can view many of his past and present guits. All 4 pages of them. It starts here and it's not boring by any means, https://forum.gibson.com/topic/169202-checkin-in/?do=findComment&comment=2151302 Edit, And yea @SteveFord, a boat load of Martins. SteveFord
I liked his D-35, I would have kept that one. He's always on me to buy another Martin but I only ever wanted to own one of them. Here's some vintage smut: I don't remember what year it is but it has THE acoustic guitar sound that I was looking for so the search was over real quick.

fortyearspickn
As horrific as the Turkey earthquake has been - I really and concerned about the chemical spill and fire in the East Palestine, Ohio train de-railment. It must be sheer terror to think you - and your children - may be breathing air with chemicals that are lodging in your lungs - to cause possible problems down the road. Because most people cannot afford to pick up and move. Story has moved to the back pages though on the media.

fortyearspickn
Back in the '70s, the US had "Super Fund Sites" : approximately 1000 locations where toxic chemicals had permeated the environment. Love Canal in NY was the most notorious. There was a big one a dozen miles from us in Houston - where an entire development was closed. People moved out - I assume the government paid for their houses - like a ghost town, or a Stephen King movie if you drove through. They soon closed the roads in. I would guess FEMA was created in 1979 in part due to this event. They are now under Homeland Security. I would think this would be at least as important as a hurricane or tornado. I hope these people get peace of mind very soon !

We've been breathing air with chemicals and other filth since the dawn of the industrial revolution. And drinking water with all kinds of phosphates and dioxins too. And now the chlorine used to clean that up isn't doing us much good either. And it's not just the harm it's been doing to us, but to the planet as well. But I'm with you on the case of East Palestine, Ohio. The idiot who approved of shipping those chemicals on a railroad line that goes through or near any residential area should not only live out his life in prison, but inter his body in a prison mausoleum upon death. SteveFord
I recall one railroad worker saying if we knew what was going past on the tracks we wouldn't be able to sleep at night.
SteveFord
Got some new Buck Folding Hunters to play with, a 120th Anniversay (with the coveted tin and coin - woo hoo! - from Wally World) and an Ebony Collection which is wickedly sharp. I'll try not to drop these into my leg like I did with that switchblade last week. Oops, this is going to be bad, I don't want to look... Pinch
Raising and lowering pickups would raise and lower the pole pieces too, right? I mean, without actually adjusting them separately. They just follow along? I am not yet a Jedi, as the saying goes. Will have to do some messing about on the new one if I keep it. gearbasher
While we're showing off our Buck knives, on the right is the only one I have left (probably sold off 15 of them). It's my daily "player". A 30 year old 110 Finger Groove Hunter. On the left is a 110 copy. I thought it was a Bear, but it's stamped MGC. I use it for cutting dandelions out of my lawn. SteveFord
Buck makes 7,000 knives per day and had gross sales of $80M last year. I found some semi-pro factory tours on youtube and that's quite the operation.
