Post Retirement, I wouldn't mind getting a piddly job.

I wonder how much it pays to beat up new acoustic guitars for a living?

I'm retired, but got bored, so I'm currently interviewing to become Head of Sales for a Shower Curtain Ring company. Very excited.

I retired in August but now I go back to my old work (USDA) 4 hours every Monday morning as a volunteer. I am a bit of an archivist, historian, and many times do the equivalent of title searches. All field offices maintain records of farm data for Farm Bill compliance. When the farmers come in for a loan, for example, one of the hoops they must jump through is following a Conservation Plan on highly Erodible Land. In this area, it's very easy to do, given the soil types and the crops we grow.  They'd have to TRY to not comply. Problem is, sometimes these tracts of land change hands and the trail gets cold. Imagine someone buying a used Gibson and not having a COA. Imagine someone with the wherewithal and diligence to track that document down, because there is a paper trail and if it exists, I will find it, even if it was filed under Fender. That's kinda my job. Organizing old farm info. It's only 4 hours every Monday so it's not like it's hurting my retirement.  There's some talk of them hiring me (paid position) a couple days a week to do the same, and then go do field work in the summer, doing checkouts on irrigation systems, pipelines, waterways, GPS-ing stuff.

Since retiring, I too got bored. I'm now entering my second year studying to be a proficiant Patate de Sofa. Working towards a masters degree. Ultimately not into teaching. But I will lead by example.

I seriously think the next major purchase for the house should be a generator.

They can be costly, but if you can swing it, try one of these.....

Since I shelled out for one of these we've haven't even had the threat of a power outage.  I've been trying to get the neighbors to contribute funds for an expression of gratitude.  [wink]

Actually, since retiring, it feels like I have less time to do the things that I want to do.

Gawd! I'm not alone on that. I get it tho. Younger, so many things. Always new adventures. Long days. Time flys by getting old. But then retire, days are a blink.

I'm looking at the Slash goldtop. With that one you can get away with a blank TRC. With the Appetite Amber, not so much.

Juuuust window shopping.

I've read something like that. Where gibby, certain offerings, have marked switch and TRCs and include blank ones w case candy. Or other way round. I like it. Doesnt make or break gettin a guit. But nice touch.

So it's a Signature Signature guitar. Slash Les Paul. Hypothetically, you could get one, become famous for playing it, and some day they might make a Pinch Slash Les Paul. [cool]

Highly hypothetical, but hey... Now I have to buy it!

No, we'll see. Torn between the Appetite one and the goldtop. I suspect the novelty of having the "Appetite guitar" would wear off faster than having the goldtop.

Of course, maybe I won't like the neck profile. Basically just thinking out loud here. It's a lot of money...

I always said that when you reach a certain age the years become only six months long.   Or so it seems....

So true. Much better discription. Thinking bout it, days arent a blink. Just tiring. Talking to wifey, I'll refer to something "a few years ago". Yea, always turns out to be a decade or more.

Ice cream and popsicles.

Diving into mocha almond fudge topped w M&Ms lately. Tho rainbow sherbert has slid into second place, admittedly it's only after a solid month of gorging on it. Still a half tub of that in the cube freezer in case of emergencies.

Bannana sicles have gotten my attention as well. Cant find a reliable supply of rootbeer sicles. N I dont care who makes those green sicles. They're just yucky.

Phew...    I thought I was the only one.   So,  it's not a 'mental condition'  it's just Old Age.  One less thing to worry about.  Now I can go look for something new.

I guess what 'is on my mind'  is the video of Turkey's earth quake.  Some  tall (10-15 story) apartment buildings collapsed like an accordion.  Freezing cold. Climbing death estimates at 5000 =   I don't know if that is bodies found or includes people missing. "Rescuers' have shovels and crow bars.  No heavy equipment or  Scent-trained rescue dogs.   Makes me thankful at a level I usually reserve tor Thanksgiving Dinner.   Life is fragile, and in third world countries - even more so.  We are very fortunate.

Ha!  There used to be a hardware store in Metro Detroit that back in the late '70's spurred record sales of snow blowers with the guarantee that if there was under a certain inch level of snow that winter they'd give a full refund while letting customers keep the snow blowers anyway.

Unfortunately, that winter had a record LOW snowfall and everyone of the snow blowers they sold that winter were fully refunded.  And  the store shortly went out of business.  As luck would have it, they thought because for the three or four winters before that Michigan endured record levels of snowfall they figured they were in the clear.  [biggrin]
