Beatlenut' date=' how is that EJ-160E? Do you use it acoustically, mostly? And, if so, how's

the tone, and projection?

Apart from the fact that she is so fragile and I nearly destroyed her (had her hanging in a dry winter basement and she fell to pieces. Neck bend, top bulging, small crack, corduroy pattern on wood... Had to humidify her in the case for three weeks straight. She is just now coming back to where she was), I really like her.

I have a Crate acoustic amp and an AC30. When plugged into either she really sounds good. Different, but good. The VOX really gets me exactly like the early Beatle acoustic sounds. I was told this Epiphone can sound exactly like the real deal Gibson, and it is true. Set the VOX knobs right, and you are so there with this Epiphone.

But I do mostly play her unplugged. Once again, not your daddy's acoustic. Very different due to the electric guitar strings that are strung on it. It is not as loud as my Ovation, nor as bassy (which I like). It can produce a great high end tone (think "If I Fell"). Fingerpicked it really plays and sounds great. I do "Dear Prudence" and though John played that on the Casino, it sounds spectacular on this Epi. Nice bite. I also like playing "Julia" but I hate the string squeak, so I just put flatwounds on her. I haven't given them a real workout, yet. Hope they make me happy.

Look, it is a relatively cheap guitar. For $450 bucks it is what it is. Non-Beatle fans would be puzzled and put off by the electric strings on an acoustic. Beatle fans will love it. I swapped out the knobs to the genuine Gibson ones, put on flatwounds, and got me a nice guitar to play "Please Please Me" on.

Here's mine. The Ultra 2' date=' like the Ultra only comes in 2 finishes.

Black and Faded Cherry Burst. I've changed the knobs to gold speed knobs since this picture was taken, as per one of the guys suggestion.[/quote']

Strange, my ultra II came with speed knobs as standard (see last post on page 1).

wow... haven't ever seen a goldflake madobird... beautiful... I think I need one of those too :-k

Yeah ya do, it's *****en! It's a cool little intrument and really screams when overdriven. I don't think they offer it in gold flake anymore, since it was on clearance when I got it.
