Duende
Yesterday an excited Matt with a wallet full of cash (with tissues stuffed over it to keep it snug in my pocket LOL ) went to Hampshire, to collect a new guitar from luthier Roy Eneas (Royal Guitars is his business name)... He kindly picked me up from the station and was just a lovely guy who was passionate about making quality guitars. He asked me to play ;as he didn't often get to hear a new creation played in front of him, while his wife e cracked open a bottle of red wine and we all toasted the new guitar (who I have called Frederick). He gave me a lift back to the station, gave me a 20 mm gypsy jazz pick and also a copy of the French Acoustic guitar magazine. I sat on the train where there was no one and played it most of the way back (until the train filled up) I played it in a couple of hours yesterday, I was on it all day in lessons today (about 6 hours) and after my bath, will crack open some more wine and play it some more! I love it!!!! I will post some sound clips asap (after how it sounds is more important than how it looks!) but it does sounds as good, or possibly better than it looks

Duende
Bare in mind this is on the video of the iPhone and just me mucking around waiting for a pupil to turn up this morning, so not playing a proper piece, just pretending I am a gypsy jazzer LOL. I say this because Marcus here is a great gypsy jazz player so I am wary in case I sound not very authentic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6H0M4ketYc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cERXbUph42M

Madman_Greg
I used to live 10 mins drive from Langstone Harbour, where this guitar was made (I think) Now I live a short drive from John Le Voi who is also quite famous for this type of guitar Now those Gypsy Jazz Guitars have followed me onto the Gibson forum Maybe I should just give up and buy one and start playing that style. freak show
Congrats! Glad to hear that the guitar exceeds your expectations. Now, as Mr. Spock would say: "Live long and prosper (with your awesome guitar)".
Duende
I wonder why this had been moved to the lounge? While not a Gibson Acoustic guitar, I posted it in the acoustic forum because my acoustic buddies and me talk this kind of stuff more than here I.e finger picking, acoustic techniques, acoustic genres etc. Plus Gibson don't make gypsy jazz guitars so I am not advertising a competitor to their stuff? A bemused but not in the least bit angry (in case the cold written word translates as that) Matt
Xaj
I actually will have to thank the mods for putting the thread here as otherwise I wouldn't have seen it. Beautifull guitar and your playing blows me away every time. I will be attending one of your concerts one day, that's for sure.

I am playing a classical guitar recital at St Alfeges next month if your interested? It is in Greenwich. I will be playing original compositions as well as a lot of music by Soamish and Layin Amercan composers and yes no problems with the mod!! but in a way I like a good mystery and the reasons why something seemingly unexplainable happens my dear Watson The game is a foot Sherlock Matt
