Sweetwater is fantastic to work with.......Typically, you are assigned ONE salesperson to deal with, at least I was..........

And, they send candy with your order............

They're pretty decent. I've bought a strat and some other stuff from them. I just had my buddy call for a new amp and the guy - Ryan Murphy - just automatically looked on ebay and knocked the price down another $25 below the regular price of $350(which is as low as the other big internet retailers). Without my buddy even asking about the price.

From what I understand, you can do a little better on price at some places, depending on what you want.

I'll just echo everyone's comments. I think they're excellent. Short story...

I ordered my Elitist Casino from them, and waited a couple of months until it arrived. My rep called to tell me it was in and he was sending it down for their "55 point checklist", and it should ship to me within a day ot 2. Two hours later I get another phone call telling me they found a ding on the back (approx 1/8"). My choice, take it (at a discount) or wait for another. I opted to wait for the next one, which arrived about a week later.

Point being, they just don't take a box from the factory and ship it to you. They actually do look those things over!

I've bought several items, large and small, from them over the past few years and have never been dissappointed.

I gave them a first try with a computer hard drive. Good service.

Later on, one sales rep wanted my credit card for a "wait 'til it comes in" purchase. I didn't care for that.

I did want to give them a try. I ordered a guitar and case for a "toss around in the summer" Epi AE. They didn't have the Epi case, but offered a price on a more expensive Gator.

The first one seemed to have an odd neck. So... a second was sent express. It works fine so far. Note that this was before I even sent back the first one - although they likely could tell I've played guitar a while and I'm not too hard to find given the delivery was to my work address. The customer service both from the sales guy and the shop guy was excellent, IMHO.

I'd agree the listed price tags may be a shade over some internet houses, and they may not have some stuff as quickly since they're not as big. Strings and "stuff" may be less expensive elsewhere if you dig a bit.

They do have my cell phone but then, that's the only way anybody's going to find me on a phone. No problem there, IMHO.

OTOH, I haven't had problems with MF, either. The reason I gave a shot at them for a guitar is that "instrument check" before they send something out. Even that's not perfect as a piece of wood goes through some climate change, though. I don't blame them. The service guy emailed that he'd even personally played the second one sent to me.

I also think Sweetwater especially would be the place to go for higher quality live sound and recording equipment since it seems that's kinda what started them in the biz. I didn't see much inexpensive weekend warrior stuff on their site compared to MF etc. It depends on what you need.

I bought my new Midtown Custom from them. The first one they sent had flaws in the body binding. They immediately sent a return shipping label and sent a replacement guitar before the 1st one even got back to them. The replacement was right on the money. I am very happy with Sweetwater and will use them again. The 18 months interest-free financing on Gibson's didn't hurt either.

They're great, I ordered my handwired AC30 from them. Can't say enough positive things about them. Damian is right, they do send candy :)

Their service is more personalized, in reality I have not had a bad experience with any of the big internet retailers.

I bought my SG from them, my guitar had several flaws, two days later they were out of the same model so I could not exchange it.

Fact is while they "inspect" their guitars they will send you one with a ton of flaws, in my view that does not make them better than the other guys.

Ive been a Sweetwater customer for over a decade, they where better with tech support when I first started dealing with them but they are very service minded and have knowledge of what they sell so it is better then dealing with Musicians Friend. There not to overly pushy but they do keep up with there customer's so you'll get e-mails and calls from time to time but that's what sales is all about. Never got any bad gear from them, witch is more then I can say for Musicians Friend.

I've had only great service from Sweetwater. Like an earlier story, I ordered an Epiphone Elitist Dot and the first one had an issue the found during their 55 point check. They wouldn't sell it to me. I got the next one that came in a day or two and everything was fine.
