You know you're getting old when...

Helium filled ES-330 is on my wish list.

I had the same idea, but the gas escaped out of the f-holes. Just as well really, imagine trying to fetch your guitar down from the ceiling.

My Strat is heavier than my LP. Yes seriously. The body is solid maple and weights 9 lbs. I'm trying to find a strap that will make it easier on the shoulder. I was wondering about a Gibson Switchblade?

you strap on a Les Paul and your right arm starts to go numb.

Where's my Firebird, this is ridiculous!

When I sit and play my LP it crushes my leg. BB King ain't no lighter. My Martins don't weight too much.

This thread has made me just go and weigh all of my guitars which I've never done before. Seems by precision bass is the heaviest I own and its 9lbs. Feels slightly too much in all honesty

My LP Standard which is chambered weighs about 8/9lbs and that feels perfect to me.. Still a nice weight so you know its there but feels light to me compared to my Classic.. Then I have my Tribute Studio which is also chambered and more like 6/7lbs and is a lot of fun to play because of that...

I've got a few guitars at my sisters which I want to go and weigh when Im next there on friday. I feel like my lp double cut style guitar is probably half the weight of any other electric I own because its built like a pine tele and my thunderbird bass is ridiculously light given the size of it. The gibson website specifies that they used ultra low/clear density wood for that purpose. My Michael Kelly came out to 8lbs which seems about as heavy as I could comfortably go on an electric (I have a few problems with my back still from my rugby playing days).

I'm not into heavy guitars.

My ES-330 and Casino are light.

I have an 8 pound faux-LP (LTD) and since I switch instruments all night (sax, guitar, flute, wind synth) it means I am working out with weights.

But I needed a solid guitar for gigging. And then I found my Parker DF, which at 5 pounds, sustains longer than the LP due to it's advanced design. Too bad not enough players discovered the Parker, as they went out of business.

OK, I'm game. I went and weighed them all. I must like a certain weight? All 4 came in at 8.6 pounds. Didn't weigh the Acoustics. They feel fine to me and I"ll be 65 in 5 more days. Seriously...You guys just need to get to the gym more?msp_confused.gifmsp_flapper.gif

(Couldn't pass that one up.) Ha Ha

It is IMO entirely appropriate to mention, at this juncture......

The vocal issues guaranteed to occur

When using Helium......

V

:-({|=

Thats made me wonder what the guitar would sound like with helium instead of air inside.

Could be the part of the sound palette of future guitars?

Helium might be too bright. How about methane, carbon dioxide or water even?
