Two lines from one GREAT song...."Duncan" by Paul Simon

Couple in the next room, bound to win a prize - They've been going at it all night long

And

Just later on the very same night, when I crept to her tent with a flashlight

And my long years of innocence ended

Well, she took me to the woods, sayin' "Here comes somethin' and it feels so good."

And just like a dog I was befriended, I was befriended

Great choice. Paul Simon= Genius. If anyone hasn't checked out Rhymin' Simon's latest CD "Afterlife" I highly recommend it. It's chock full of great lyrics, interesting and unusual time signatures and some of Paul's best acoustic playing. Great stuff.msp_thumbup.gif

Speaking of "Afterlife" by Paul Simon here's a verse from his song about getting to heaven after ones passing.

Buddha and Moses and all the noses

From narrow to flat

Had to stand in the line

Just to glimpse the divine

What'cha think about that?

Well, it seems like our fate

To suffer and wait for the knowledge we seek

It's all His design

No one cuts in the line

No one here likes a sneak

You got to fill out a from first

and the you wait in the line

Best line? I have no idea. A couple of my favorites though:

"Oh come on honey you got nothin' to lose

You got the thirst 'n I got the booze" -From AC/DC's Live Wire

"You got me flippin' like a flag on a pole

Come on sugar let the good times roll" -From Hendrix's Come On (Let The Good Times Roll)

Bob Seger - Turn the Page

You walk into a restaurant strung out from the road and you feel the eyes upon as you shaken off the cold, You pretend it doesn't bother you but you just want to explode. most times you can't hear them talk other times you can the same old cliques is that a woman or a man.

kind of wraps the whole concept of being a artist and/or musician is a tight *** world.

Another good one came from Jason Mraz in life is wonderful

And it takes no time to fall in love

But it takes you years to know what love is

It takes some fears to make you trust

It takes those tears to make it rust

It takes the dust to have it polished

One of many of my favorites

Anger he smiles, towering in shiny metallic purple armor

Queen jealousy, envy waits behind him

Her fiery green gown sneers at the grassy ground

Blue are the life giving waters taking for granted

They quietly understand.

Once happy Turquoise armies lay opposite ready

But wonder why the fight is on

"There's someone in my head but it's not me." Pink Floyd - Brain Damage

"You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice.

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill;

I will choose a path that's clear

I will choose freewill." Rush - Freewill

How about a little humor in songs

'Cause since the day I left Milwaukee

Lynchburg and Bordeaux France

Been making a fool out of folks just like you

And helping white people dance

I'm medicine and I am poison

I can help you up or make you fall

You had some of the best times

You'll never remember with me

Alcohol

Alcohol

Brad Paisley - Alcohol

So hard to pick just one line....................................................

So I'm gonna name a few:

"One just like the other, sin's a good man's brother, but is that right?" - Sin's A Good Man's Brother, Grand Funk Railroad

"And as we wind on down the road,

Our shadows taller than our soul,

There walks a lady we all know,

Who shines white light and wants to show,

How everything still turns to gold,

And if you listen very hard,

The tune will come to you at last,

When all is one and one is all, yeah

To be a rock and not to roll.

And she's buying the stairway to heaven."

- Stairway To Heaven, Led Zeppelin

"Will the wind ever remember,

The names it has blown in the past,

And with his crutch, it's old age, and it's wisdom,

It whispers no, this will be the last,

And the wind cries Mary."

- The Wind Cries Mary, Jimi Hendrix

"Is that the stars in the sky, or is it,

Rain fallin' down,

Will it burn me if I touch the sun,

So big, so round."

- Love Or Confusion, Jimi Hendrix

So many to choose from. Pretty much all of Roger Waters' stuff from 'Dark Side' through to 'The Wall'. Take your pick.

Some humourous ones?

"She flirted with the Butcher. She flirted with the Baker. Now, she's flirting with the Undertaker......" - 'Sweet Mama (Papa's Getting Mad)'. - Leon Redbone.

or :

"If The Phone Desn't Ring...It's Me". - Jimmy Buffett.

And, from Meat Loaf/Jim Steinman, the wonderful "Paradise By the Dashboard Light Pt. III - Praying For the End of Time"...

I couldn't take it any longer

Lord I was crazed

And when the feeling came upon me

Like a tidal wave

I started swearing to my god and on my mother's grave

That I would love you to the end of time

I swore that I would love you to the end of time!

So now I'm praying for the end of time

To hurry up and arrive

Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you

I don't think that I can really survive

I'll never break my promise or forget my vow

But God only knows what I can do right now!

I'm praying for the end of time

It's all that I can do

Praying for the end of time, so I can end my time with you!!!
