politics are forbidden on this forum. keep them to yourself. if we can't discuss them here, they have no place in your post, and add nothing of value to your content.

Now if only we can get that message to my friends who post their political opinions on my Facebook page. So tired of hearing that crap all the time.

Here is what you do. Don't have a Facebook page. Problem solved. I don't have one, or Tweet, or Snapchat pics my junk, or any of that social media stuff. Have we not learned from Rosanne Barr not to post stuff on social media, there can be consequences?

I think the issue is some people just cant help themselves no matter how many times they are told this isn't the place to talk politics... Or just don't care and are happy to derail and get a thread closed just for the opportunity to tell us all how they feel...

Here are the rules. How many have you broken? Me a few. #1 Weed is now legal is several states and I think the entire country of Canada. So are you allowed to post something about legal weed if you reside in that state or country? Many of us have not adhered to #7. When was the last time you did research for #8. #12 really. So we do or don't want a lot of pic of guitars on this site? #13 - I have no clue what the width of a pic I am posting is. #15 happens all the time. #18 happens every now and again. We need a new rule #19 No U2 of any kind on the forum except to kill a thread. And #20 No John Mayer ever.

1. Do not post anything that is considered to be potentially criminal. Posts made under circumstances indicating a considered likelihood of inciting a violent or felonious act, or a subjective intention or knowledge that its content will be used for, or in furtherance of, any criminal purpose are also prohibited. Such posts will be moved offline and referred to proper legal channels.

2. Do not post anything that is considered pornographic, obscene, or contains excessive reference to violence and/or explicit sexual acts. This includes representational artwork as well as photographic or video media and includes linking directly to such content from the Forum

3. Do not post a person's private information.

4. Do not post anything that demonstrates a clear and present danger to the welfare of another person, or otherwise tends to create alarm or apprehension that the welfare of any person is in imminent jeopardy.

5. Spamming will not be tolerated.

6. You may only have one membership account. Multiple accounts are not permitted.

7. Posts must be on topic to the thread subject.

8. Before you start a topic, perform a search to see if the question or topic you wish to create has been made before. If it has, post in the topic that already exists. Duplicate topics will be moved or closed.

9. Do not post topic titles in full capitals, or include an obscene amount of full-stops (periods) or exclamation marks, question marks etc.

10. Begging in the forums for anything is not allowed.

11. Do not over-quote posts. If a post has more than one quote in it when you are quoting it, remove the one(s) you don't wish to quote.

12. Show some restraint on the amount of images you post. Posts or topics with many images are a strain on dial-up users, so please be courteous.

13. Do not post images that exceed the width of the page. This will stretch the page horizontally causing viewing problems for members. Large images are likely to be removed by staff.

14. When posting multiple large images in a post, consider linking to the images remotely rather than using the tags.

15. Do not "flame" others. Blatantly offensive posts directed at others will not be tolerated.

16. Gibson Forums reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.

17. Gibson Forums will not be held responsible for the content of any message.

18. No Racial, Religious, or Political post will be allowed on the forums.

I got off FarceBook maybe 4 years ago.

The first 30 seconds was the hardest.

People (adults) have usually made up their minds about 'politics' and nothing you can say on The Internet will convince them they're wrong. (Ironically, it is very easy to convince them that they are right.)

Sort of like "Ford or Chevy?" "Ginger of MaryAnn" "Crunchy or Creamy" and the absolute most irresolute - "Gibson or Brand X" ?

me personally, it drives me up the wall. i know sure as the sun will rise, if i respond to something someone says when they break #18, the thread will get killed.

i don't want that, just like the rest of us. there ends up being content in the post that no one can address. that means you can say something inflammatory, bombastic, delusional, and it will go completely unchallenged. it would be better to kill the thread right then and there. sooner or later, people will figure it out, and either stop, or face the consequences that they courted by continually and deliberately ignoring the rules.

for some reason, i am unable to report posts when i see politics in them. i tried this morning before creating this, but was informed that i do not have that ability for what ever reason.

You are right, but do you know who I really am, or my real name, or where I really live? Every one on this forum has a secret identity. Yet people will post on Facebook everything they do during the day and stuff like "Going to Europe on the 15th for the next 2 weeks". So if ya know where I live come rob my house. When Roseanne Barr sent her famous tweet everyone know it was her, and a lot of people lost there jobs a day or so later. I could say the most crazy f-ed up stuff of this forum and no one know my identity unless I tell them. I'll be kicked off, but that is a choice I would make for running my mouth. I think the only piece of info you have to give signing up for this forum is a valid e-mail.

Not sure what prompted this post. Not even sure why I'm commenting, since it has Zero to do with me. But...

I can honestly say that I have never Reported any poster. There have been a few times that I've done the Minus Sign thing, or given a msp_thumbdn.gif, or maybe even argued slightly with someone. But it's one comment, two at the most and ignore after that. I find those endless back-and-forth debates are futile.

If only everyone cold be more like me. rolleyes.gif

Good. Because I would hate to think anyone thought I was serious when I said that. smile.gif
