Sgt. Pepper
Here are this years lot. Foo Fighters, Tina Turner, JAY-Z, Todd Rundgren, The Go-Go’s, and Carole King. Love Todd. Carole had one stellar album and is a great songwriter. Tina is a legend. The rest eat chain. Edited May 14, 2021 by Sgt. Pepper
jedzep
I think the HOF sealed their coffin years ago when Janet Jackson got in. Not that I'm commenting on this year's crew, but respect for that institution died a long time ago. Could be called the Hall of 'Lame'. I listened to Tina a lot more than she did. We both like Todd Rundgren. I know nothing of the other three?

MissouriPicker
For myself, a question arises——-Why did it take them so long on Tina and Carole, and Rundgren as well? Like so many things I once admired, even revered, all this HOF stuff is too much bullshit and too little substance.
merciful-evans
That HOF needs competition.

Because the Hall has people who let Rap and Hip Hop performers in so the whole thing is just a s-hit show. Did Ken Stabler get into the Hockey Hall of Fame, No, cause he played football not hockey. If the rappers want their own hall let 'em build one, and stop inducting performers that have nothing to do with rock into one that is called the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. I went to The Country Music Hall of Fame a few years ago and ya know what Led Zeppelin and no rappers were inducted there. Edited May 14, 2021 by Sgt. kidblast
like everything else (Grammy's, Emmy's...) it's been hijacked, and not even a shadow of what it was intended to be. Alex Lifeson hit the nail on the head with his exception speach... Blah--blah, bla-blahhh... personally I could care less...

I don't like rap, but I'm not knocking it. Its is own musical genera, and its not rock. If they want their own hall, have the rappers built one and induct all rap acts they want. Did you read my statement about Ken Stabler and he not in the Hockey Hall Of Fame cause he wore cleats and not skates when he played. What don't you understand about that?

I'm not I'm using logic that is to far over your head to comprehend. Here is a simple question for you to answer is Rap or Hip Hop, Rock? I'm gonna say it isn't and hence Rap and Hip Hop Acts should not be inducted to Hall call the Rock Hall Of Fame. Get it, probably not. I know logic is tough for you. NighthawkChris
I don’t pay attention to who is in the hall or not. If I like the music I’d listen. But I also would say that anything that is not rock does not have a place for the hall of fame - that is supposed to feature rock and roll history greats. This inclusiveness crap has got to stop! Naw, they have way to may articles of clothing on and no one is fornicating. I think they call that R & B, but its just garage dance music like Madonna makes. Oh that non rocker is in the Hall. And can some one explain to me what is Rock about ABBA, yep there in as well. The hall is crock. I told my wife the only way I would go is if Thin Lizzy or UFO (either one) who got nominated a few years back got in I would go with her. I knew full well neither would, so to this day I am still safe from going.
jvi
it dont matter if "anyone " " likes or dislikes" these type of things , in the end, if they the help people who have tried to make a living from music make some money and keep earning, that works for me., even for the artists I dont like ... have a nice day eh!.... Many of rock's early hits( and beyond) were co-written by Carol and then husband Gerry Goffin. That it took this long for Carol to get into any musical hall of fame is the puzzle. I can agree about the others. I've heard not much difference(from what I've heard) between The Foo Fighters and other contemporary bands like GREEN DAY and Smashing Pumpkins. 14 hours ago, jedzep said: I think the HOF sealed their coffin years ago when Janet Jackson got in. Some (like me) would say that seal was set years earlier in 2008 when Madonna was inducted. ABBA's in their too and I've long questioned that as well. And I can go along with SARGE's idea of Rap and Hip-Hop having their own Hall of Fame. I'm not any racial segregationist, but rock'n'roll and rap do seem to be much different genres from one another. But, if some people feel that calling comic books "graphic novels" is OK, others might then feel that anything goes. But too, if you think about it, without rock'n'roll, there'd BE no rap or hip-hop. DanvillRob
It's probably time to mention that I'm actually in the Rock 'N Roll Hall Of Fame. Here's the induction letter: The first edition: Second edition, (I"m the guy all the way to the right side with my head over the green "H" in "March". Third Edition: Wasn't really "inducted", more like I snuck in the back door!

Stabler only recently got in, and Jim Plunkett is still the only 2-time-winning Super Bowl QB not in the HoF. On a musical note, Randy Rhoads is getting a "musical excellence" this year. I was thinking that RR should have got in (along with Zack) when Ozzy went in as a solo artist. Oh, wait a minute, Ozzy is not in as a solo artist. Really?? I was shocked. Blizzard of Oz came out in early 1980 ... what a huge solo career he has had ... and not in? Shameful, especially as it is also keeping Randy Rhoads out too.
