Well it's been a while since we've done this, so I thought I'd bring it back. Let's see them. Also tell us what you like about them.

Mine would have to be a Fender Strat. The classic Fender twang is what I love about it. I like the new S-1 switch too, which places the pickups in parallel to give it a more beefy sound (great for tunes like Rush's Limelight). Here's my American Series Deluxe Ash...

That we own? Or can it be one we dont own?

Doesn't matter to me.

I like the burst on that Strat!

Thanks! It's always a good thing when you get a guitar that plays well and looks nice too. I probably played about 50 of them before deciding on the one I got.

This one really gets me to giggle...

I've some decent non-Gibbie stuff from the '70s but my two favorite "go to" guitars are both rather blatant Gibbie-like instruments. I've an Ibanez "copyright infringement" ES-175 clone from around 1975 that's very, very nice. It clearly sez "Ibanez" wherever it should, but there was a lawsuit that got the company to change shapes a bit.

I don't think you can beat that 175 set of specifications, though. Period.

It's also interesting to me that nowadays folks are faking Ibanez pieces as well as Gibson. Makes me wanna chortle.

The other one is a 1970s Guild solidbody that is extremely similar to an SG. The difference is a bit in the electronics with a phase switch that's kinda dumb, and that this one has carved acorns and oak leaves on the clear finish that shows the nice wood grain. It sounds great and plays even better, from my hands' point of view.

Both prove to me that other companies can make darned nice guitars, but that the Gibson concepts rule.

For what it's worth, both were purchased at a time when I had the cash some 35 years ago and there really weren't any Gibsons available in stores anywhere close where I was living. #@$%@#$%2 Still aren't.

My favorite "go to" guitar right now is my Epiphone Elitist Dot but since it's in the Gibson family I'll post this Fender Strat

However, I actually have a home made strat I use more than this one. It has various original fender pieces. If I get a chance I'll snap a pic of it and post it.

This Strat has a Brazillian rosewood fretboard

My favorite non-Gibson guitar is my Epiphone Casino. But I guess it's still in the Gibson family.

My favorite non-Gibson, non-Epiphone guitar is my modded LTD.

With the Mean90 pickups (one RPRW) and the Varitone I can make it sound like a P90 LP, almost a humbucker with both pups chosen, with the varitone I can make it sound very close to a Fender, plus I can get a few other sounds out of it. With the master volume control at my fingertip, I can compensate for the Varitone volume differences plus I can use it for expressive vol changes or a boost when it is time for a solo.

Since my web hosting company seems to have gone belly up (taking all my stuff along with it), I have very few pics to post but my favorites are:

Fender '57 reissue Strat with Don Mare pups, Callaham trem block and Suhr noiseless back plate

Fender '52 reissue Tele, stock

The splendor that is I with my '57 RI
