RB72
I agree. Love a good ghost story but just can't bring myself to believe in them. Gotta see one...then...maybe.
S t e v e
I don't know if it's because it's fall and Halloween is coming or what, but lately I've found myself kind of obsessed with super-natural themed tv shows. -Ghost Adventures, Paranormal Activity, Ghost Hunters, etc. I don't know what to make of them, sometimes I think that crap is real, and other times, I think it's just a bunch of weirdos running around in the dark. What do you guys think? i don't personaly, i'll only believe it if i see one but i tend not to think about those things as i don't believe in life after death. my mum on the other hand says she has been followed by ghosts since she was a child and that the house she grew up in as a child was haunted and her and some other family members actually saw them, including things moving on there own, lights on and off, doors closing by themselves and as my mum closed a bedroom door once "something/someone" grabbed her hand, where she lives now (the place i grew up) she swears theres a ghost in of of the bedrooms and she's nicknamed him "burt", burt bangs things on top of the tv and moves my younger brothers posters across the walls, also she was sitting in the living room one day and she heard a noise in the passage like something dropping from the ceiling...when she went to look the was on old fashion watch on the floor covered in dust and dirt (directly below the ceiling light) she showed it to me too and weve never seen it before and it didn't belong to any of us... LPguitarman
We have a ghost in our house. My wife and I have both seen him separately of various occasions. Strange things do happen occasionally such as doors opening, doorbell ringing, faucets turning on, things falling off shelves, etc. We've done enough research to find out his name and a little bit about his life and death (from natural causes). He must have been a very nice man and causes no real problems around the house for me or my wife. In fact he has opened doors for her when her hands were full, quite a gentleman. I've also had other "paranormal" experiences in various places. Maybe I'm just a good medium. Wow, that's a little scary. Do you live in the Lemp Mansion? Golem
...... I've also had other "paranormal" experiences in various places. Maybe I'm just a good medium. I voted no, but I would not argue against those who have "experiences". I simply do not bleeb such experiences are supernatural. Just cuz something is beyond our understanding does NOT put it "above" or "outside" nature. Imagine you overslept, about 300 yrs, and just woke up today. Radio/TV, electric lights, self propelled carriages, flying machines ? Surely the world you woke up into is all witchcraft ! `

cabba2203
Yes, but not in the boogieman kind of way where they are out to get you. I believe they are trapped energy released by those who have died but had a strong connection to a place and specific repetitive cycle in time. I don't think they can make the walls bleed and tell you to "GET OUT", throw furniture at you or anything like that.
jaxson50
I'll tell you what happened in our house and you can be the judge. My brother passed away in July of 2009. After we returned from the out of state services, our first night home, I went to bed and noticed a light shinning on the bedroom wall on my wife's side of the bed, I thought she had left her cell phone on a charger. When she came to bed she asked me why was there a flash light on in my dresser drawer? I checked it out, it was a small multi tool with a small LED light built into it which requires the user to twist the lens down to turn it on. I turned it off and went back to bed, at 4:00 am I woke up and it was on again...this went on for the next two months.. Here is the odd thing, my brother had visited me two years before he died and we bought two of these tools together....I never used mine, always left it in the top drawer of my dresser..but when it started turning it self on...I tried and COULD NOT MAKE IT TURN ON! No matter how tight I turned the lens, it wouldn't turn on...So I would loosen the lens to make sure it was OFF - put it away, and like clock work it would be on that night. Finally the batteries went dead... We thought it was just a freak thing, then one night we were watching TV and our black lab started acting very upset, all puffed up and on alert, but wouldn't go near the entry way near our front door, the floor of the entry way is solid rock, there is a HVAC vent built into the floor, the hole for it is cut out of the flat rock, to remove the vent cover you have to lift it straight up about 3 inches to clear the cutout...so we are sitting there, my black lab on alert, pointing toward the entry way, all puffed up, when we hear a crash...I went to check it out and the vent cover was out of the cutout, two feet away from the HVAC vent.... My brother was a HVAC tech...
heymisterk
That question is above my pay grade. When I lived in a fraternity in college, there was a time where many of the guys living there were using the Ouija Board nearly every night. In that time, I have never seen so much weirdly bad stuff - small stuff, but still - happen to a group living together. It was like a Darkness(?) had settled on our house, but whether it was legit or perception is another thing all together. I believe in ghosts before I believe in UFOs though. Golem
..... saw what I thought was a roomate go from the bathroom to the bedroom and shut the door. Turns out I was the only one home. His girlfriend came home about a half hour later and verified it. ...... Bathrooms are very common sites for ghosts. Even the super-natural hafta answer nature's call .... or maybe just fixing their make-up or flossing their teeth .... `

Golem
` Altho I cannot accept the unexplained as literally "super natural", as I mentioned I don't argue against people's experiences. Here's a minor one, not quite 1st hand but almost ... like not "1st" but "1.1th" .... Important fact: The attic steps begin in kitchen of the 2nd floor apartment. So we are all sitting in the kitchen, the attic door is open, not unusual. Larry wants Stephie to see something in the attic, so up they go. It's really dark up there so Larry heads for the pull-chain light switch that's off in the middle of the attic. Steph waits at the top of the stairs, at edge of the attic, cuz she can't navigate the attic in the dark like Larry can. We in the kitchen can't really see Steph at the top of the stairs, but she's just a few feet yards away from us and she's saying stuff like "Larry, Stop that, Not up here." This is not fearful stuff ... Larry and Steph are more than just grab-assed friendly, so it's pretty normal. So while Steph is "fending off" Larry's[?] advances, Larry is actually in mid-attic, in the dark, batting around for the pull chain light switch and when he succeeds and the light goes on he's also saying [to Steph] "What are you saying? Who are you talking to ?" .... at which point Steph comes flying back down the stairs quite freaked out .... cuz far as she knew, in the dark at the top of the steps Larry was groping at her .... but then as the light goes on she sees that he can't be the groper cuz he's standing half a house away from her, in mid-attic while she's at the edge, just out of our sight at the top of the stairs. There's nobody else in that attic, no other way into it but the door in our kitchen, and no one else there except us 3 residents sitting in the kitchen and Larry and Steph who are so tight with us that they can come and go as if they live with us. So who's groping Steph ? She never realized Larry had gone to the middle of the attic in the dark cuz her sense of touch told her he had never walked away from her, and she was actually kinda pushing him [or "it"] offa her, cuz the attic is way too grubby for sex no matter how horny you are. Henceforth we refered to the "entity" as Uncle Charlie .... but to me it was always just a tag for an unknown thing .... not a name of "a ghost". -------------- So you see, except for lack of direct visual contact, this is pretty much first-hand experience [acoarst Steph's experience is more in-hand first-hand]. But I don't consider it "super natural". `

Golem
I wanted to see a psychic about afterlife experiences. I hoped to talk to an above average one but he was just medium. Our local psychic is usually out on the sidewalk in front of his shop, yacking on a cordless landline phone. Wazzup widdat ? How come he needs that phone ? And he prefers that suckers .... Golem
Were you guys smokin a certain substance in the kitchen? UUhhmmnnn, welll ... Larrry NEVER smoked, and since Stephie arrived with him, it's kinda doubtful that SHE'd been smoking, especially since she's always broke. I didn't notice them smelling of smoke when they came in ... and there were no mirrors in the kitchen or attic. And Stephie ... well if you don't wanna grope her you're not just dead, you're a nonexistant non-entity. So like I said ... nothing unnatural nor super natural going around downtown! `
NeoConMan
Ouija Board Dabbled with that in junior high, got some startling results a couple of times and swore off it. My fear was that an entity far more powerful and malevolent than Casper or Aunt Sally is involved. Mrs. Neo would never allow one in the house, and I wouldn't disagree with her. FirstMeasure
Are there unexplained phenomena in the world? Yep. Are there things happening around us that is beyond the perception of our 5 senses? Likely. Are the spirits of the dead walking among us, looking for the light to heaven? I'll get back to you on that one, after I die.
