Flight959
Thought I'd share this with you guys!! Took it last night on a Canon 7D with 400mm Sigma lens. Hand held! :-) Great detail on the right hand side! Although its still being debated.. Those are not stars around the moon! Noise or dust on the cameras sensor! jannusguy2
Beautiful. I took this one last night with my camera phone. The moon is reflected in the bay behind my home. yours is better. Ha!
ShredAstaire
What were your settings at Simon? I bet the ISO needed to be high to get a shot like that handheld...which would explain the noise...

RowdyMoon
and what a better way for me to work in a Blind Owl tune...hehe ( forgive my guilty pleasures ) he wrote this song because of his concern for the environment and the moon...he was a conservationist long before it was " cool " to be one..RIP Owl. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZXRWgKe1x8 Ever since I was a kid You sure looked good to me Now I'm a man full-grown, and I Know what I hate to see (Oh well) It might be tomorrow (Oh well) I just don't know (Oh well) It might take years I wonder when they're going to Destroy your face It may seem silly, but I don't like What's been coming down 'Cause you've been looking good too long To change your colour now (Oh well) They might test some bomb (Oh well) And scar your skin (Oh well) I don't think they care, so I wonder when they're going to Destroy your face I hope I see you in the sky At night when I get old I hope you'll look about the same As when I was a boy (Oh well) It gets me to gasping Find more similar lyrics on http://mp3lyrics.com/Alv(Oh well) When I think about (Oh well) What they might do I wonder when they're going to Destroy your face Well, you sure look good In the sky at night And it's sad to say You won't shine so bright Some day When they're through with you I bet you've seen the cloud we make That covers up L.A. I wonder if you'll hide behind A shroud like that some day (Oh well) I'm worried about it (Oh well) It makes me sigh (Oh well) I just can't help it I wonder when they're going to Destroy your face (Oh well) It might be tomorrow (Oh well) I just don't know (Oh well) It might take years I wonder when they're going to Destroy your face

LarryUK
If any of you can help.....What sort of telescope would I need to look at the moon? How powerful? I've been looking on ebay, but it's baffling.
jdgm
If any of you can help.....What sort of telescope would I need to look at the moon? How powerful? I've been looking on ebay, but it's baffling. The minimum mirror size for anything decent is about 3 1/2". You then would want to buy either a reflector, or a type of reflector called a Cassegrain telescope which has a shorter tube length. It would also include a stand, preferably motorised for accurate tracking, and the whole thing would be quite big. Do not buy a refracting 'spyglass' telescope as you will end up craning your neck all night. I wouldn't buy one on ebay myself either, although I did buy a 2nd hand reflector from a friend who was upgrading. I bought his starter telescope which was a Russian-made Tal, for £100. That included the stand - not motorised - and some basic lenses which weren't incredible but I could see Saturn's rings and the bands on Jupiter. Very enjoyable but the clearest nights are always the coldest ones! Regards!

matonanjin
ISO 3200 Shutter speed was 1/6400 Taken in the TV mode. ( time value) Regards As someone else mentioned those specs are noise. Next time you don't need that fast of shutter speed. 1/1000 should be plenty fast enough. Which means you can lower your ISO.
