sparquelito
The sun came out today. My van got a much-needed cleaning and polishing with carnauba wax. The motorcycle got some love too, and I rode her out and about a bit, avoiding the lingering patches of ice and snow. 🙂
mihcmac
Last Saturday.......This pic from a video of a tablet propped up on a workbench running a FaceTime connection with a guy in Florida watching us jam, with what he see's in the lower left corner. Recorded using 3 tablets, one capturing this video of the tablet on the work bench running FB another recording the video in the lower left. Today we did it again, with improvements. fortyearspickn
Took covering off tangerine tree. 3 years old, 8 feet high: Dead as a doornail. Three sheets and a string of Christmas tree lights can't protect you from 14 degree temps. Plumeria dead too. Insanity is repeatedly doing the same thing and expecting different results. Good news though, local Double AA Minor League team released their schedule - 60 home games starting in mid-May. Last season was a non-starter. All new people in the back office, hoping I can get my regular Season Ticket Holder Seat, with the creative 6 foot social distancing seating assignments. 7th Largest US cities, cases dropping significantly - zero deaths yesterday. I suspect gay porno would probably have been more entertaining even for us straights. Here's the movie in a sentence, spoiler alert: guy walks around, then he's famous, then he drinks from a bottle of vodka, then he sings some excerpts, roll credits. It made "The Dirt" look like a masterful drama piece in comparison.
mihcmac
Having my coffee and then I get to start mowing the back acre... Well I managed to survive the back half, the rain made it a lot cooler, I usually get pretty cooked, even at this time of year.. Retired
Deb and I are going in at 1:20 to get our Covid shots. They are at the above 65's here. Other than that, I bought a kit and now can do much of my own Luthier work. My Gretsch was sounding pretty bad, I was thinking of getting rid of it. This luthier kit is from Music Nomad and has directions with it with all the measurements inside and made easy to follow along. Ive been studying it and gave a go on the Gretsch and what a difference! I think it's now a keeper again, Haha.
Retired
I will add, Stretching the strings is something I have never done before in my life! Since I have always had issues with all my guitars going out of tune, I thought I'd give it a go. So I watched a few videos on it and gave it a go. First time, I busted the D string, It snapped and about hit me in the face. So I replaced it and tried it again. This time the high E string snapped. Thought Right, This must be an art to stretch them? I wasn't pulling them that hard?
SteveFord
Herman Munster does NOT use girly man strings.

mihcmac
I always pre-stress my strings by pulling up in different positions, but not getting too close to the bridge saddles or the nut so not to kink the string over them. I have also noticed on some of my recent Epiphones that the high E string saddle has had a burr on the front edge causing the string to break under high pressure. Which is easily fixed by filing the very front edge of the notch on the saddle.

SteveFord
The FedEx man gave me an excuse to break out my tube tester. My old Woo Audio WA6 managed to make its way back home and I got some Byerdnamic Amiron headphones to go with it. This is more like it.
