DAS44
Why limit the tonal possibilities? An LP wont sound like a strat.

brundaddy
I have a Martin dreadnought, a Yamaha strat copy, & a Gretsch Electromatic Jet bass. Oh and a First Act LP Jr. copy with a Fender-style bridge (not a bad score at all for $20, it plays surprisingly nice). The rest are Gibsons though. I like Fender's amps but their 6-string guitars never really grabbed my nuts. If I had money I'd have a ton more non-Gibsons -- there are so many cool guitars out there. NeoConMan
I own nothing but U.S. made guitars/basses. Okay, I lied. I have a late 90's Danelectro 59 DC reissue made in Korea - but it cost almost nothing. One import out of 20 guitars ain't too bad. I'm primarily a Gibson guy (6), had a Martin D-35 for awhile. I also own; Fender - 4 Gretsch - 1 Guild - 2 Kustom - 1 Paul Reed Smith - 1 Peavey - 2 Rickenbacker - 1 In the past I've owned lotsa imported stuff; Epiphone Kramer Ovation Yamaha and several no names - or names I've forgotten. The Yamaha SBG that I had was badass. The reason I sold it? I made an absolute killing on it - more than doubled my money. Shoulda kept it anyway. LPguitarman
(1) Gibson Les Paul & (1) Ovation acoustic. But I voted for all Gibson, because I rarely play the Ovation.
pohatu771
If we're talking about country of origin, I've got four American, one Spanish, two Chinese, and one Korean. And my mandolin... I think that one's Chinese too, but I forget. The enxt one will likely be American, if I get the two I'm majorly considering, or Chinese if I get the close third-place. Those choices are, for those interested, a bare-bones Gibson acoustic, an Engelhardt upright bass, or a Hofner Contemporary Violin bass.

ChanMan
I have (to the tune of "12 days of Christmas" if you like): Hondo 12 string (Korea) JB Player 6 string acoustic/electric (China) Ibanez EW20 acoustic (Japan) LTD F-104 bass (uh... don't care, sounds KILLER) '07 LP Standard (USA) '83 Elite Strat(USA) American Mahogany Strat(USA) Kentucky KM 630 mandolin (China) and a mountain dulcimer made by Dolly Parton's Sister-in-law! Pretty safe to say it isn't the brand name or point of origin that gets my business....

MojoRedFoot
There's too many out there I like and want to own to stick to one brand. I confess I have more Fender Instruments than any other. So far the count is: Gibson: 1 Fender: 4 ESP/LTD: 2 Ibanez: 1 (used to be 2, sold one) Jackson: 1 Kramer: 1 Goya: 1 Egmund: 1 Hamer: 1 Supertone: 1 unknowns: 2 I rarely know what my next purchase is going to be. Most likely another LTD for a project to turn it into an Iron Cross. I also plan of getting one of the builder kits from Carvin. Hopefully after the new year.
