Mine's a very short list.

'68 Harmony Bobkat H-15 (destroyed by movers in '02](*,) ) .... want to score an old one, but new re-issues are priced at EP LP prices, so....one day, I'll get another one...single coils, Jaguar kinda shape....cool "surf guitar" ..... learned on and grew up with this one...

"70-ish "no-name" dirt cheap low quality acoustic ..... destroyed it at a party in college :-s in '80

'99 Epi AJ18-SNA acoustic natural finish spruce top, "mahogany" sides/back

'07 Epi LP STD+top , honeyburst

....... and that's all she wrote

I'll give this a shot. Nothing spectacular to list, but it will be fun trying to remember what I've had.

Not in order:

Peavy Foundation Bass - Trade

Epiphone EBM-5 - $350

Epiphone Expert-6 - $500

No-name Acoustic Bass - $250

Hahaha. What an exercise. Asterisks ("*") indicate which ones I still own.

1. Ventura V-6 flattop, $35 in 1971. Later I sunk about $400 in it to replace the plywood top, cheap tuners etc and it now sounds like a piano.*

20. 2003 Ibanez AEB305LG acoustic bass guitar, bought new in 2003 for $550, traded in 2006.

21. 2003 Epiphone Biscuit resonator, bought in 2005 for $400, traded in 2006.

22. 1930s Regal spider bridge resonator, bought in 2005 for $750.*

Whew!

Net outlay, $8165, not including the value of gear that I traded much of it in on, that includes a Korg D888 digital recorder, Fender Jazzmaster Ultralight amp, Hartke HA2500/TP115 bass amp, etc. Not a bad investment over 37 years, considering the years of enjoyment I've got out of playing each of them.

A careful reader will see that I have winnowed it all down to the three Gibsons, the three Fender Precisions, the two flat tops, two resonators, and the Supro.

So' date=' have you ever compiled your "list"? Every guitar you ever owned?[/quote']

No list --- all 3 are sitting right behind me.

Wise choices to show for 13+ years of playing.

I thought I had worn my strat copy out, but a new graphite nut, a trem lock-down and new pups/pots/wiring has her sliding the blues beautifully in open D.

I've played many, borrowed some, took 2 on tryout basis, worked on about 25, but never owned any others - yet.

Hit every BLUE NOTE baaaby..., I'm going to play on:-"

It's not terribly different than the list of what I own now:

1. 70s dreadnought, brand, model, etc. unknown. - inherited

2. Squier Strat - $113

3. Chinese Backpacker copy - $.01 (plus $29.99 shipping)

4. Chinese 3/4 acoustic - free (they sent this instead of the Backpacker)

5. Fullerton FW-20CE - gift

6. Epiphone Casino - $430

7. Fender Stratocaster - $600

8. Gibson LG-0 - inherited, kind of...

9. Martin DX1RGT - $600

I still have the Backpacker, but I don't list it, since it's unbearable to play.

They're like ex-girlfriends.

Some you are pleased to have eradicated from your memory, and the rest are too painful to recall.

I only think about my here and now guitars, all of which I like.

Fender American Standard Strat

Epiphone G-400

Rickenbacker 360

Hagstrom Viking

Godin Radiator

+ an old Yamaha acoustic.

No plans to add to the list. Well, maybe a new acoustic but I'm not in any hurry.

Ok here goes:

Harmony Acoustic

'89 Strat body and electronics with Warmouth neck

'70's lawsuit Ibanez Les Paul Custom (that one still hurts)

'02Squier Tele Special (Hum/Single)

'94 MIM Fender Strat

'98 MIM Squier Strat

'02 Korean Epi Les Paul Classic

'05 Squier Strat

'96 MIM Fender Strat

'06 Epi Elitist Les Paul Custom

The lawsuit Ibanez still hurts because it was free, and now I know what I lost. The dad of my girfriend at the time gave it to me. One of the pup rings was broken, so I replaced it, and resoldered the jack. Played it for awhile, but, being the ignorant young man at the time (late '80s/early '90's), I was wrapped up on headstock shape and sold it off. I quit playing for 10 years after I joined the Corps, but when I started again, I knew I wanted a Paul. Eventually found the Clasic, which was sweet, and it held it's own against the revolving door of Strats. Started thinning the herd and finally settled on the Elitist Custom and one Strat last winter. Then the Strat outlived it's usefullness. I'm not playing with anyone, or at church, so I don't need more than one, and the Elitist handles the job. But boy if I had to do it over again!

That's a really good way to put it.

I think the only difference is that with guitars, if you really wanted one back, you could in most cases track down another one just like the one you had before on eBay, where as girlfriends, not so much, LOL!
