Rabs
Wow.. What a weird turn of events.. New Job Day.... :) Most of you know my story.. Been trying to get the business running and due to the unfortunate events in my life over the last year or so it all went to pot leaving me almost having to start again as far as getting my name out there is concerned. But fear not, this isn't me giving up on RabsWood Guitars quite yet, but supplementing my income while I work things out (or not). And it was weird.. The last time I actually tried to look for work we were still coming out of recession.. There just was no work about and if there was, there was like 100/200 applying for every job so if you didn't quite fit the job description that was it, I didn't even get a single interview in two years of trying. This time around, one application and done and I was the first and only person he interviewed :D So the job in question.. Well its working for a small wood supplier. What he does is specialise in getting wood from in and around London (gets a lot of wood from St James's Park).. So theres very little shipping costs (and low carbon footprint) compared to getting a load of wood from say Africa or Asia. Which I really like the idea of.. So while he is doing well (its a one man business) what he wants to do now is get an online presence on Ebay and start off by selling his offcuts or single boards etc and thats what he wants me to do.. Take pictures of the stock, list and sell it on Ebay. But also he wants me to look in to environmentally friendly packaging for the wood rather than using a tonne of bubble wrap and look in to the distribution of what I sell, so finding a good courier.. Its also a part time job which suits me as I still get to work on guitars AND I now have an amazing new place to get hardwood from (he had some really nice spalted stuff I was looking at)AND its really local (like a 15min drive). For now we haven't really finalised when I will start and all that, but its all in the works now. If you fancy checking his site out its here http://www.saunders-seasonings.co.uk/ So there you go.. A new avenue for me to go down after all this crap I have had to deal with and im pretty excited about it.. Just thought id share some good news for once :) Edited April 27, 2019 by Rabs

uncle fester
Nice deal! Allows you to keep working with wood, and actually I bet should make it a little more affordable... along with hopefully helping out in the income department, nothing wrong there. 'luck to you. Cheers man :) It was just really weird... After working so hard in previous years to look for work. This time I looked for like thirty mins, found that job and applied.. Then today wasn't even an interview, just two guys having a chat... Ive never had it so easy before.. Very odd. Heres hoping its a good sign of things to come.. The chances of finding something so local and so perfect, well its not the sort of thing that normally happens to me.. But as always I will give it my best shot to make it all work. Cheers I have experienced such things before in my life so I do understand... But its been so long since something like this has happened, the last two years especially have been some of the hardest in my life so far. So right now it seems a bit too good to be true, but I will go for it, do my best and see what happens :) Edited April 28, 2019 by Rabs
