The last one broke a few weeks ago so I used good electric tape on it and holding together so far. I think I’m on the 4th one. This last one busted just in my pocket. I was taking it over to tune my sons guitar. It broke 3 of the small pieces that hold it to swivel. No reason for it to break. I tried super glueing but that didn't work. In the end, it was facing the wrong way because of the struggle of holding it so long it kept falling off.
Retired
We had both grandkids over. One 4 & the other 7. Grayson was telling me his Grandma Gayle bought him a chess set for Christmas. So I took him upstairs to teach him how to set up the board and how to play. Of course, I also started with a few basics, with center control of the middle 4 squares and started with just King pawn openings. If he learns the game I told him he could have all my chess sets when I'm gone. That brought a smile.
Retired
I played the Casino. Practicing a few songs and bending strings like crazy and vibrating them. The high E went way off key. Sounded more like the low E. I put the tuner on it and all it would do was C. No higher than C. The string kept stretching but didn't break. Weird so I changed strings. After trying a new method of putting strings on, I couldn't hardly get them off the running keys. They sure were locked on! I'm going back to the way I used to put them on. Never had a problem. fortyearspickn
Woke up early to check in on race results: two of our sons, with their families, are at DisneyWorld for a week of various length races. This AM was a 10K. Youngest son and daughter in law of oldest son ran. In the dark, of course. The two families are seeing the sites in between races. Son came in at 41 minutes. Would have been slower but he had to sprint the last 100 yards to show up some kid that passed him. Probably a 20 year old kid. We had considered going, had reservations w/ SouthWest, but bailed out a few weeks ago due to "THE SURGE". And flight cancellations, et al. No refund from SW. mihcmac
My left index finger is getting stuck when I play, having to do my hand curls much more frequently to keep my fingers working. Arthritis sucks..

Arthritis sucks.. Commiserations. I sort of know. This is similar to my LH 3rd finger which is impaired due to Dupuytrens contracture; nodes form on the tendons which shorten them, so they pull and curl the finger into the palm of the hand. My essential 3rd finger now gets in the way when I'm grabbing some chords and won't accurately quick fret a string like it used to. I never thought I'd have to work round something like this. I wear a heavy-duty night splint....I may have posted this before. This is what enables me to continue playing guitar at all. I also work my 3rd finger joints, use aloe vera gel to soften the skin and take a magnesium citrate supplement to try and counter the formation of nodes on the tendons. It's a horrible reality check. I can't reverse this, only hope to stop it worsening. Edited January 7, 2022 by jdgm
Pinch
Watched episode 2 of "The book of Boba Fett"... It looks lovely, but very little plot for an hour. Basically the complaint I had with "The Mandalorian" as well.

Maybe it was good cause I usually took a few tokes before starting to watch. If I am to base the rest the show on episode one, I'm not in. A toke did not help for Boba Fett. sparquelito
Temps here were mighty cold. 19 degrees F at sunup, and a high of 32 this afternoon. The Arsenal was closed, so I did a bit of work over the phone. Walked the dogs, twice. Did some clearing and redirecting of water flow in my creek. (Chilly Godawful work, that.) Took a chainsaw to a neighbor lady's fallen tree. The most recent storm knocked an old dead hardwood over, and right into her side yard by her apple trees. I trimmed limbs and branches off of it up and stacked it by the curb for somebody's free firewood. Somebody with a stronger back and a bigger chainsaw is going to have to tackle the main trunk. But I made the job for them a whole lot easier and neater, with all the branches and limbs out of the way. 😛

I spray Emu oil on them and rub arthritis pain Voltaren cream on them all the time that helps to play. But it doesn't do justice to the strings. Today, the 3 fingers up to the middle of my hand hurt on the right hand. Just another thing us oldies have to put up with.

SteveFord
Yep, Stetson, Dobbs, Disney (no relation to Walt) and Knox hats from the early 1900s up until the present. They do a really good job of taming a live room. I was going to add another row to that one long wall but it's possible to have too much of a good thing. Also use Voltaren and once in a while DMSO, including joint health supplements like Glucosamine Chondroitin and MSM. So far these are helping me maintain a modicum of flexibility at 71. I my case if I don't use it I lose it and need to continually strengthen my fingers through playing and applying correct pressure to each finger without aggravating the joints. Rabs
I have been doing very little recently.. Well for like the last year or so anyway... Very groundhog day like. But the last few days I have been trying to convince myself not to buy another expensive guitar.... The thought keeps coming back though.. Dont know how long I can resist... SteveFord
If you hold these thoughts in too long bad things can happen. Bet that Howard Roberts Fusion model got you thinking impure thoughts. New strings for the Firebird VII and I took some fine emery paper to the slot for the B string, every so often one will pop and I'm using 11s. Also polished the old girl up and marvelled at how poor the gold plating is on Gibson parts. Pieces are disappearing on a pick up surround. Nothing ever touches that area. Maybe it's my breath?
