So, what is your #1 guitar?

Sorry if this has been asked, but wanted to know what everyone's #1 guitar is on here and why? For me, it's my black 1994 Gibson Les Paul Standard. Yes, it is beat up and has a story to tell, but it's worn in and every time I pick it up it feels like an old and best friend. Not only that, it sounds great, too! For sure a workhorse! So, let's see your #1 and hear why!

A Wine Red Standard from '95  490R/498T stock pickups.  Bigsby is installed with a vibramate, which imposes no modifications to install

mine also has stories to tell, but it's over all in very good shape.  It's heavy, close to 12 lbs,  but it's a total sledgehammer, and when you need a sledgehammer, only a sledgehammer will do.

Why, the Firebird VII, of course.

I chased this particular guitar all over the country: everytime I'd get close to begin able to afford it the listing would vanish and then a couple of months later it would pop up again, I'd almost be there and SOLD.  I finally got it but it took around half a year!

It's ridiculously long and my right hand bangs into the twang bar pivot and the pick ups sound ridiculously wimpy but this is the one for me.

Is it my best guitar?  No but it's the one that lives on the stand right next to me and gets played every day.

My number one guitar is my 1974 Martin D-28.

Of my four acoustics,  (the others being a 2001 Gibson j-45, a 2003 Guild GAD jf-30, and a 2006 Washburn parlour), it is, by far, the one with the fullest sound, and the one I like best.

However, by way of full disclosure, because of hockey-caused right shoulder issues (nicely torn supraspinatus muscle in my rotator) when it flares up, the guitar that causes the least stress on the shoulder, because of its small bout, and is thus the easiest to play, is the Washburn.

I'm not posting photos of either guitar, as they both look pretty much like everyone else's examples of these models.

No #1 guitar.... each one is special to me..... Jubilee was my first Gibson...have had it for over 50 years.... beat to the point where it's starting to resemble Trigger.   Dove was given to me by my bride back when we didn't have a pot to pee in, (or a window to throw it out of).    Doves In Flight I bought with the idea to give it to my #1 grandson.   Hummingbird Koa will go to my granddaughter.   Hummingbird 12-String will go to my #2 grandson.   And lastly, the J-50 was a gift from my staff when I retired.   How could I get rid of any of them?

With a review like that it can only be ICONIC.

Here is mine, Martin's shorter scale at 24.9". It's not as big as a dread, and is pinched at the waist, and my hand bangs into nothing. Needs no Russian tubes to power it, and is no where near as iconic as anything from maker that Slash plays.

My # 1 is my 1997 Les Paul Studio with P94 pickup.  A GC LTD Ed guitar, it has great growl and tone.

Impulse buy years back, fell in love with her on first sight.

Its changing for me.. It was always my LP Classic (the dark burst in the middle)......  The reason being it was always my dream guitar.. 60s neck, hot pickups that enable me to get the sound I like..  BUT now having two 336s its hard for me to pick a no 1...  And I havent had the P90 336 long enough yet,...  But the 336s do everything and are prefect guitars for me in every way. Then theres the Goldtop studio which is really light and fun, And the wine red Standard has more vintage pickups in it,,  Lol so they are just all great, I am guitar spoilt for sure.

Well, if Guitar God can narrow it down to one, out of the couple hundred guitars he owns 😜 I guess I can too

But I still like to think I have different ones that are best for different situations.  Have to justify owning them for some reason.

This is tough.

The one I grab most often is an old beat up Telecaster.
I love my old beat up Les Paul.
I have sentimental attachment to those five over there, and I could never part with these six over here.

If you held a gun to my head, and said, "You are on your way to an important gig, and you can only take one guitar, and so which one is it??" ,
I would very likely reply,
"It doesn't matter, pick one. I'll make it work, and I will make glorious music with it."

I'm at the point in my life where every single guitar I own is tied for Number One.
Spin the bottle.

I'll kiss whatever girl it points to.

#1 would probably have to be this one.

I bought it new back in 2005 when I was living in Seattle from the Guitar Center in Tacoma, WA.

It kind of spoke to me.

I remember you showing that awhile back. That is the 1st FireBird with 3 pickups I've seen.  At least Remember anyway, Lol.

Would it be safe to say, You must Love, Tobaco Burst? Lol.   Very nice Rab.   My Casino would look at home in your house.

Yes, mostly because of Jimmy Page and Slash...   I also do like dark red guitars... The Classic was my second ever Gibson from 2002 so its 20 years old now  😮  (first was a 92 wine red lp studio)..  I do count myself very lucky to have such nice guitars and that I got lucky in my choices (mostly).

Although I don't do photos yet,  My   #1. is Casino - #2. is Gibson G.T. Standard - #3 is Gretsch Streamliner. Those are the 3 most played.  The Gretsch is probably the best looking with it's Wine Red finish and seeing the grain underneath.

Does your LP Classic have the 496R/500T pickups in it?  Those are the stock pickups in my 2003 LP Classic and I like them.
